CTV still confused over diff between “news” and “politics”

…and it always seems to work in one direction.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been watching this more carefully, and I’ve noticed that CTV.ca makes the same mistake over and over: When a LIBERAL-related political thing is happening, they place the headline in their “CANADA” (news) section of their day’s headlines.  But if it’s CONSERVATIVE or Conservative government-related, it ends up in the “POLITICS” pile.  Unless it’s bad for Conservatives, then it’s “news”—unfortunately for them it’s almost always been good news for them, ipso facto, it’s “politics”.

When Justin Trudeau was maybe going to run for office for the Liberal Party, it wasn’t “politics”, somehow—it was “news”, for example (see below).

I don’t know that this is done on purpose—I really believe that they in the liberal media are now so liberal they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore.  They just think they’re normal!  And they think promoting Liberals and their boy is actually part of their job as Canadians and as media; while bashing conservatives or Conservatives is also part of their job.  They’ve now obliterated the difference not just between “news” and “politics”, therefore, but also between “liberal” and “Canadian”—or between “liberal” and “reporter”.

Today, we have Liberal Frenchman Stephane (“the Green Guru” —reminder: the liberal media—CTV as a matter of fact—dubbed him the “Green Guru”—see my Lexicon page) Dion embarking on a purely political tour across the country starting this weekend, as leader of the Liberal Party and nothing more—purely for politics—while Parliament is on a break.  That’s Canadian “news” to the CTV folks, not merely “politics”.  I guess because he’s a Liberal, and so it’s very, very important to them.  It’s not just politics —it’s their boy!

Meanwhile, in light of rumour-mill talk of national elections (thus the Dion tour), polls across the country are suggesting the Conservative government is way ahead, suggesting by extension that the Conservative government is doing a good job in the eyes of Canadians.  But that’s merely “politics”, see.

How is that “politics” if at the same time, Dion embarking on a purely Liberal Party campaign tour is “news”?  ANSWER: You gotta think like a liberal.  That’s how.

Call me paranoid or suspicious, but I’ll bet if the Liberals were ahead in the poll they mentioned, that headline would be in the “news” section.

Another example I mentioned in this space was a month ago:
