CTV calls Conservatives “Tories”, not “Conservatives”; but Liberals “Liberals”, not “Grits”

Why do they almost always do this?

Their headline “Tories, Liberals escalate standoff over stimulus fund”

Can’t “Grits” save them oh so much time, the way “Tories” does?  Or does “Grits” sound like dirt, and is therefore not pleasing to them?
