Conservatives reportedly dealing to save marriage

Little or none of the Liberals’ $4.6 BILLION payoff to the even more socialist NDP would see the light of day anyway.  So maybe the Conservatives are betting they can win on both files.  I don’t know if I would take that bet.

Others would say that this is how the liberal-left wins: a little bit at a time.  This is how Canada has become liberal.  It’s the Fabian model.

That’s the other side of the bet.

Tories offer budget, same-sex trade
Tories set to roll over for budget bill if Liberals delay same-sex marriage

The Conservatives have offered to let the federal government quickly pass a $4.6-billion budget bill in exchange for a delay in same-sex marriage legislation.

The Tories are willing to pull back their opposition to an NDP-inspired budget amendment, House Leader Jay Hill said today.

But there’s a catch: they don’t want to see a vote on the same-sex marriage bill until the fall.

“There’s been some negotiations,” Hill said. “If we were to get a delay of C-38 (the marriage bill) until the fall and perhaps some other concession, we’d be happy.” […]

I think the Conservatives should fight on both fronts and win.  Just wait until the election finally comes, and watch as the liberal-left mocks the Conservatives in their campaigns for “supporting the Liberal/NDP budget”, without explaining what actually happened.  The Conservatives’ hands are thusly tied and can’t campaign against the likes of that budget—they supported it!

At least they can rightly claim they weren’t paid-off in taxpayer cash or cabinet goodies as the NDP and others were. All they got was a most sensible delay in the ridiculous rush to negatively change the very fabric of our nation.  Conservatives got the best deal on the face of it!  For them and for our country.

That oughta earn them some bragging rights—in a sensible world.
