I’ve always thought this was an insidious bit of pandering and progressive political performance art. With an emphasis on the political. Every time I hear it it irks me for that reason.
Surrey already has an “Urban Indigenous Strategy” which acknowledges being situated on “the traditional territories of the Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, Kwantlen, Qayqayt and Tsawwassen First Nations.” But that’s not enough for the woke left political performers.
