If most canadians — especially lefties — read this about Donald Trump and the now-known-to-be-a-left-wing-hoax “Russian collusion” story, they’d set their hair on fire. Instead, look at how casually the take is on what is being described as a covert Chinese Communists’ “takeover of Canada;” and various unnamed Canadian politicians allegedly being bought by the Communist Chinese to aid them in that goal.

…CCP [Chinese Communist Party]-linked individuals, businesses and organizations in Australia have promoted candidates with some success. But mostly, they have bought or won over political elites, infiltrated political parties and campaigned in the Chinese community against candidates seen as “unfriendly” to the Chinese government (even if those candidates are of Chinese descent).
It has also been happening here for at least a couple of decades. In 2010, Richard Fadden, then head of CSIS [Canadian Security Intelligence Service], said at least two provincial cabinet ministers as well as other officials and employees in municipal and provincial governments were under foreign control. He singled out China.
Since then, Kelshall said Canada has been “sleep-walking” as CCP influence has grown.
While Hamilton, Fadden and others say it is not too late to mitigate the Chinese government’s influence, Kelshall pessimistically predicts that over the next 25 years the CCP will become Canada’s benevolent dictator — benevolent because there will be no war and its deep economic and financial ties will make it unwilling to disrupt any trade routes.
…For Kelshall and for the rest of us, the unanswered question is: “How could Canada have let this happen?”

People on the left freak out (in agreement) when useful idiots like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says the “world will end in 12 years” due to the “man-made global warming,” but when someone says Communist China will “become Canada’s dictator in 25 years,” it’s a snoozefest?
Well I’m awake. I’m “woke” as the morons say, but in a different, better way. Which provincial and municipal politicians, exactly? We need to know.
I had to do a fairly deep dig into my memory banks to recall this passing Fadden news from back in 2010. But to find any serious reporting on the actual ramifications of what he said requires more work — certainly for anything recent. And yes this lack of interest from the news media is itself troubling.
Back in 2010, then CSIS chief Richard Fadden spilled the beans about the China influence campaign referred to above, and was asked by the then Conservative government to report to the then public safety minister Vic Toews to explain in more detail, in private, and provide names. Investigative journalist Sam Cooper of The Province newspaper years later wrote-up an excellent followup piece, on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, with documents he obtained which contained a lot of blacked-out or redacted information, but also more insight. I actually found the article in the National Post archives.
According to CSIS documents obtained by The Province in a freedom of information request, Fadden accused China of foreign interference and spying in connection with B.C. … Fadden said Chinese authorities were organizing demonstrations against the “five poisons” including Falun Gong [a Chinese religious group banned by the Communists], and apparently recruiting agents through the Confucius Institute, a Chinese government-funded school located on campuses across Canada, including BCIT. Confucius Institutes continue to be investigated by CSIS, but directors have always denied they are run as spy outlets through Chinese consulates. In his speech — directly after claiming a small number of Confucius Institute students have been “kept on the books” and Chinese authorities “kept up contacts” with some students after they left the BCIT Confucius Institute — Fadden added “there are several municipal politicians in B.C. and at least two provinces, there are ministers of the Crown, whom we think are under at least the general influence of a foreign government. They have no idea. It’s just a long-standing relationship.” …
In the case of these individuals … they haven’t really hidden their association, but what surprised us is that it’s been so extensive over the years, and we’re now seeing in a couple of cases indications that they are, in fact, shifting their public policies as a reflection of that involvement with that particular country.”
… In documents Fadden says ‘foreign interference’ is an effort to influence the political process and public policy in another country, and to control and monitor diaspora communities abroad. In Canada ethnic communities are manipulated to gain information on dissidents and solicit community support, Fadden writes, which can be used to promote targeted politicians or electoral candidates.
“Politicians are targeted to solicit support for policies and positions that favour the interests of the foreign state … interference and influence involving politicians and public servants are, in some cases, conducted subtly and involve a long period of cultivation,” Fadden writes, adding that targets can become subject to threats, coercion and blackmail.
… In an Aug. 3 2010 report to Toews about “persons truly under suspicion” all information is blacked out, except Fadden’s conclusion that “we believe that provincial authorities should be advised.”
Michel Juneau-Katsuya, former Asia-Pacific bureau chief for Canadian Security Intelligence Service said this scary bit which remains relevant today:
CSIS found evidence that the Chinese Consulate in Toronto was directly interfering in elections, by sending Chinese students into the homes of Chinese-language-only households and telling residents which candidate the Consulate wanted voters to choose.
“There are a lot of members of council in Toronto, for example, who were on CSIS’s watchlist,” Juneau-Katsuya said. “Some have been able to move up to the provincial and federal level, and remain a great source of concern.” Canadians should be uncomfortable about CSIS monitoring the country’s politicians, but it is seen in the world of spies as a necessary evil according to Juneau-Katsuya.
I found this information to be pretty fun:
“My overwhelming feeling was that Fadden was talking about agents of influence, and not saying these people were spies for the Chinese government or even consciously acting as agents,” Ansley [lawyer for Falun Gong Clive Ansley] said. “In the Beijing government today they try to recruit, what used to be called in the Soviet Union, ‘useful idiots.’ You don’t have to reward them with anything but a lot of flattery, but they adopt a very favourable attitude toward you.
I just can’t remember… who was it who said their favorite world leader and political system was China and the Chinese system? Let’s review some very recent history:
Question from a fawning student: “Which nation, besides Canada, which nation’s administration do you most admire, and why?”
Justin Trudeau’s actual answer: “You know, there’s a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say ‘we need to go green fastest… we need to start investing in solar’…”
Aside from being played for a fool by China and being conned into believing China about their desire to turn “green fastest,” which is factually and obviously the exact opposite of true, China’s ability “to turn their economy around” is largely due to them being a COMMUNIST TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP wherein only one party, the freaking Communist Party, is even allowed to run in elections, you naive little useful idiot.
And so I return to Daphne Bramham who ended her piece yesterday, “For Kelshall and for the rest of us, the unanswered question is: “How could Canada have let this happen?”
Answer: Possibly you’ve been too preoccupied smearing Donald Trump with your total crap reporting.
