Ch-ch-ch-changes

I’ve changed the commenting so comments will be viewed in and made within a separate “pop-up” window.

I did this for one main reason: On occasion, commenters naturally plunk various raw web site addresses into their comments, but long ones tend to run off the right side of the comments column and cause our right margin (which contains important information and advertising) to get shoved right off the page (kind of like Christians at a liberal policy convention).

Now, long web site addresses simply scroll to the right of the pop-up window innocuously.  Even though I plan to re-design all our pages, this way I can take my time doing that and do it right.

Please let me know how this is working or if it isn’t working for you.

I’ve also mandated a “members only” commenting policy for now, although that will not be a permanent feature. The many spammer and the creeps from the left seem to come in waves, and we were riding a cresting wave right at a time when I simply don’t have time to deal with such things, so that solves that.

I imagine it will reduce the number of comments significantly because some people just don’t want to register for anything—even if it’s free—especially liberals with bad intentions. (Mind you, those wily liberals indignantly demand that totally innocent people like me register my target-shooting rifle with their big brother gun registry/liberal sponsorship program/wiener stand, for a big fat fee. Go figure.)

I’ve also made it so that each new membership application will have to be reviewed by me and checked against spammer logs and so on before being activated. Kind of like a criminal background check. No use going around in circles like a liberal government social program.

New features and other more permanent changes are in the works. Being a conservative web site, if I understand liberals correctly it is apparently incumbent upon me to take this web site “back to the 1950s”, or to “the dark ages”. Again, that’s “dark ages”. Clearly then, many changes are required to this web site.
