CBC and Can. Press links white supremacists, Nazis, right-wing bloggers, & Christian conservatives?

As is the case in most of the liberal-leftist media in Canada (unlike in the United States), I’m not sure that the state-owned CBC has yet covered the disgraceful (and what some credibly call the fascist) bullying by the state, through the liberals’ “human rights” commissions and tribunals, whose thought police have leveled charges against great Canadians Ezra Levant, and Mark Steyn and Maclean’s magazine, following “human rights” complaints by Muslims who claim to be “offended”.  It’s one of the most important stories of the decade in this country.  The media should be exposing that story and all true Canadians should be revolted by it and acting with vigor.  All true Canadians should be demanding the stupid Human Rights Commissions be shut down immediately.

The liberal-left media has largely muzzled the story in Canada.  They are agenda-driven.  I’m not sure whose side they’re on.  Personally, I’m on Canada’s side.  The side of freedom.

SIDEBAR:  Where on Earth is the Conservative Party on this?
I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA.

On February 1, 2008, the left-wing CBC is on it.  They run a story on their radio news broadcast and in an online story by Canadian Press (an organization which they and most mainstream media in Canada support financially), written by a woman named Joan Bryden.  In it, it seems to me they insinuate that a Liberal Party MP’s private member’s bill which seeks to reign in the Human Rights Act to some reasonable degree, has the support of an obscure, unheard of (by most normal Canadians), bizarre, radical extremist white supremacist web site and its members— one or more of whom the story informs us is linked to “neo-Nazis”; as well as the interest of the “right wing bloggers” of Canada, whom they also make a point of mentioning; and “Christian conservatives” whom they also mention in the same story. As if that’s the entire supporting cast for this members’ good and reasonable bill (which should serve as but a starting point).

They mention the Liberal Party and the NDP only to inform us that those parties don’t support the Liberal MP’s motion.

It seems to me they are trying to draw a direct link between “white supremacists”, Nazis or “neo-Nazis”, “right-wing bloggers”, and “Christian conservatives” in the minds of their readers.

And for that I think they should be fiercely challenged by all Canadians.  I think the state-owned CBC should immediately be forced before a House of Commons committee and made to explain themselves, and show cause for the continuation of their government funding.  In the meantime, I think they should be shut down pending a complete rethink of the entire rationale for having a state-owned, state-run media in a free country

Some of the CBC.ca story:

A Liberal MP is being hailed as a poster boy for free speech on a white supremacist website.

Victoria MP Keith Martin was praised Friday on stormfront.org, a website that proudly displays the logo “White pride world wide” and links to radio addresses by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

Martin earned the dubious distinction after giving notice that he plans to introduce a private member’s motion calling on the government to repeal Section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act.

The cases of [Ezra] Levant and Maclean’s writer Mark Steyn have sparked much furious debate, nowhere more so than among right-wing bloggers. They point to the cases as proof that the Canadian Human Rights Act is being used to gag free speech in general and Christian conservatives in particular.

[…]

Fromm, a controversial anti-immigration and free speech activist who has been linked to neo-Nazi groups in the past …

This entire “human rights” commission story—and the increasingly obvious liberal-left media perfidy surrounding it—is turning into a national disgrace the likes of which we’ve seldom known in this country.  Every true Canadian should be in full support of efforts by many bloggers like me and other good, clear-thinking, freedom-loving, democracy-loving, sober Canadian citizens to abolish the “human rights” commissions as we know them today.  I think it’s a duty of every real true, freedom-loving Canadian to stand up and demand that.

Dion and Layton aren’t on board.  Nor, apparently is nearly any of the mainstream media.

And for the story cited above, and countless other sound reasons, I repeat my mantra:  State-owned, state-run media should be banned in this country, and that notion enshrined in our constitution.  Forthwith
