The Wall Street Journal’s Opinion Journal has an editorial about John Kerry’s horribly, inexplicably negative trashing of the leader of a now-free Iraq after Ayad Allawi spoke at a joint session of the U.S. Congress. Kerry waited all of 30 minutes after Allawi spoke to start his droning tirade. John Kerry started dismissing him as a liar—you know, the way anybody who isn’t a liberal Democrat is a “liar”.
“The resolve and will of the coalition in supporting a free Iraq is vital to our success,” [Allawi] said. “But these doubters risk underestimating our country and they risk fueling the hopes of the terrorists.”
Mr. Kerry, for one, must not have been listening too carefully to those remarks, given his ungracious reaction to Mr. Allawi’s speech. The Senator accused the Prime Minister of “contradicting his own statement[s]” and of putting the “best face” on the situation.
