Brit Conservative leader speaks my language

The article also cites the fact that opinion polls consistently show a Conservative Party lead of 18 points over the ruling Labour party.  Huh.

LONDON • David Cameron, leader of Britain’s opposition Conservatives, attacked the culture of “moral neutrality” yesterday, calling on the obese, the idle and even the poor to accept some responsibility for their plight.

Britain risks creating a society where nobody is prepared to tell the truth “about what is good and bad, right and wrong,” he said during a visit to a deprived area of Glasgow.

Society has become “far too sensitive” to people’s feelings, with no one prepared to say “what needs to be said.”

“Instead, we prefer moral neutrality, a refusal to make judgments about what is good and bad behaviour, right and wrong behaviour. Bad. Good. Right. Wrong.

“These are words that our political system and our public sector scarcely dare use any more,” he added.

“There is a danger of becoming quite literally a demoralized society, where nobody will tell the truth any more about what is good and bad, right and wrong.

“That is why children are growing up without boundaries, thinking they can do as they please, and why no adult will intervene to stop them, including, often, their parents. If we are going to get anywhere near solving some of these problems, that has to stop.”

In between defending oneself at “human rights” tribunals here in Canada, we’d all gain a lot from straight-up conservative talk like that here.

From the National Post (I can’t find the web site link in their insanely ridiculous web site setup, but the story is on their front page today).
