With due deference to the Buggles, video isn’t killing Canadian radio. Liberals are killing it. Go team!

After decades of big government interference by the liberals’ state censor, the CRTC, which controls what we’re allowed to see on TV and listen to on the radio, and their eight thousand rules and regulations concerning such things as the stuffing of the radio airwaves with what the state bureaucrats deem to be valid “Canadian content” (and conversely blocking American content) and generally deciding what’s good for us in that way, radio listeners are turning off.
This is, it should be noted, with the very able help of talk-radio station owners, who are so liberal they don’t even know how liberal they are anymore (or scarier yet, they do know, and they’re willing to forgo untold fortunes in favor of continuing to push a liberal talk agenda). Private talk radio owners think they’re in danger of being “right wing” merely on the basis that they’re not state-owned like the far-left-wing state-run CBC radio monolith. So they compensate even above and beyond the stupid rules and regulations and serve up all liberal, all the time radio.
Meanwhile in the U.S., where they have all the options in the world, conservative talk radio is booming. So much so that Democrats in Congress are looking for ways to silence it legislatively, almost as if they were Canadian liberals. In Canada, the liberals have taken preemptive action as I’ve described.
Once again, as with our decrepit and failed socialist health insurance debacle, the Americans could learn from our liberal-left’s abject failures.
