This can easily be explained by the last line in my quote from the article, below (IGNORE the misleading liberal media headline which seems to imply he got sentenced to two years in prison, while he actually got a two year conditional sentence – i.e., house arrest, no prison time):
Ellison sentenced to two years less a day
Former teacher Tom Ellison was sentenced today to two years less a day for sex crimes against students in the 1970s and 80s.
“Mr. Ellison abused his position of trust and authority,” Provincial Court Judge Mark Takahashi said. “He breached this in a most egregious and serious way.”
The Crown had called for two to three years in a federal prison, saying a conditional sentence wasn’t sufficient punishment for a serial predator who had manipulated young girls over many years.
“Mr. Ellison not only abused the trust of those girls,” prosecutor Ralph Keefer said. He also abused the trust of their parents, the school board and the community.
Ellison, in a final statement to the court, apologized for his actions.
“I am extremely regretful if I caused any harm to any of the women involved. I am very sorry, very apologetic,” he said.
Well then.
I strongly suggest writing to your MLA and MP and the BC Premier and perhaps any liberal you can find and complain.
