A PTBC columnist shares an email

Small-c conservative-friendly thoughts and ideas being made in public unfettered by the usual liberal-left shout-downs and refutations and obfuscations are naturally ubiquitous at this web site because it is a conservative advocacy web site—which is what makes this site so pernicious to liberals, as judged by my email inbox and many forum posts by liberals.

But liberals don’t want those un-liberal thoughts exposed anywhere else either.  By way of example, Sheila Wray Gregoire, a PTBC columnist whose column appears in several newspapers in Canada, added a bonus for us here at PTBC this week:  an email she received from a reader of one of those newspapers, expressing his anti-God annoyance at Sheila’s healthy family-friendly thoughts and the very idea that she’s allowed to publish them in public.  Free speech is only for liberals, as we know.

Interestingly, despite his anti-God shout-down, Sheila doesn’t even remotely mention God or any faith whatsoever in her column.  She’s simply promoting good family values.  But on that basis, I guess the reader though it stunk of Christianity—or good traditional Canadian family values.  Apparently the secular “progressives” (code for liberal) are against that.

The email speaks in derogatory tones about Sheila’s take on things, but the writer—a father—also extends them to comments about her personal faith.  This is something we’re increasingly seeing come out of the woodwork today—no doubt partially a result of the goading of the anti-Christian liberal media and academia, liberal-left politicians, and many liberal-left advocacy groups who seem to advocate keeping Christians from public office, out of the town square, and in a church where they can’t do any “harm” to the liberal-leftist world view.  And as so often happens, it exposes (supposedly just to her) the dark underbelly of the writer, as he himself exposes his abject closed-mindedness and utter anti-Christian bigotry, and of course his hypocrisy (to say nothing of his horrible parenting).

Everyone (registered PTBC’er or not) can read Sheila’s column here in our columnist section.  Only registered members can access our Town Square Forums though (register here), to read or reply to the email in question or the other ongoing comments.  So here’s just part of what a reader named James Callaghan wrote to her:

[…] I’m so tired of seeing advice columns in my local papers from people like you. First of you still believe in god, what right to you have judging others when you believe a fairy tale is gospel, silly christian myths or for kids. I raise my children in an open way, I show them many cultures and worn them to be careful around christians. You people are always pointing out the wrongs everyone is doing, but the amount of murder done in the name of your god is frightening but hey, they didn’t believe the same as you so I guess it’s okay. I let my son where a shirt that says “I get more action then heaven got on 911” as long as it iritates people like you I’ll let him be even more offensive to your kind.

(Not only do they no longer allow the teaching of good traditional Canadian Judeo-Christian values upon which our country was built, but apparently they also don’t teach English very well either in our public schools).

As Sheila does here, responsible people should shine a big public light on how these “progressives” are really thinking.
