Canada to send in tanks - from circa 1978

Canada is making the right move… sadly with equipment only a liberal could love… to death.

The right-thinking Conservative government is sending some of our updated fleet of 1978-model-year (first entered service in 1965) armored tanks to Afghanistan, to help save the lives of noble brave fighting Canadian troops, and win the noble war on terror in Afghanistan.  As the CBC describes them without finding the humor: “This is Canada’s main (and only) battle tank”.  Main …. and only!

These tanks are also used by Chile and Brazil and some other countries.

Getting them there

Canada’s current fleet of small, old transport aircraft are too weak to transport the heavy tanks.  So they will either have to rush them over there by ship which will take more than a month (that’s fast compared to what the liberals described as the “rush to war” in Iraq which took a full eight months) ;  or rely on evil conservative George Bush’s American fleet of proper modern-country transport aircraft to get them there fast.

Or I suppose they could do as the former Liberal government did before: rent some Russian planes with big old Russian flags plastered on them (MacTac flags covering the old Soviet Union flags) to transport our military equipment.  The Afghanis certainly wouldn’t love that.  (General Jack might though!)
