Today in the good Sun Media’s Ottawa Sun, columnist Greg Weston unwittingly pitches a good mystery novel or four-season-long series on state-run CBC’s “The Passionate Eye” or “Au Currant” (it’ll never happen, duh), and asks what I’ve been asking too:

First, Guite will continue collecting his government pension of something over $70,000 a year while he is sitting in prison for ripping off taxpayers. Somehow, average working folk may have a little digestive disruption over that one.
Second, Guite is only the third person charged and convicted in connection with the sponsorship scandal, a far-reaching tangle of corruption, kickbacks and fraud involving $350 million of public funds, thousands of federal contracts, and dozens of other players.
Police and government officials keep telling us that their investigations are continuing and they expect further charges sometime in the near future.
But what the heck is taking so long?
