I’ve spent the last while going over all the old PTBC videos which date back to 2007 — also known as the days of yore to Rachel and Phoebe. Some are hilariously bad (and I suppose they were even then, but these were early days for internet video), but others hold their weight even today. One video (from 2008) has over 6.4 million views on YouTube. Most have hundreds or thousands.
Well, no more views on YouTube now. I’ve moved almost all of them to Rumble, and will eventually shut down the YouTube channel.
What you talkin bout Willis Joel? (Another throwback? Sheesh.)
I’m talking about the fact that while I stopped making PTBC videos some time ago, they’ve been languishing there on YouTube all these years, and that lots of channels and individual videos are being censored over there in some way, shape, or form. Especially videos with conservative or heterodox views.
Rumble is a more free-speech-friendly video platform, even if it doesn’t yet have the reach of YouTube. Their reach won’t be extended unless or until there are more videos and more video channels there — and fewer on YouTube — and more viewers. So that’s what I’m doing.
All the cool cats are moving (or at least also posting at) Rumble now. I follow a number of channels like Dark Horse Podcast (they’ve had lots of YouTube “demonetization” and censorship-related issues, especially about their heterodox and yet perfectly scientific and factual “COVID-19” videos. I’ll watch everything on Rumble rather than YouTube if it’s available.
More Yore: I was among the first to make scathing commentary videos a part of political blogging (as it was known then). And you can tell. Most of them are just crap. Lots of experimenting, and lots of I don’t know what I’m doing. The “production” quality was obviously amateur nonsense. And it took forever to make one video, using crude tools and comparatively crap equipment.
Some of my earliest videos were vivid rebukes of state-owned CBC News reports and shows, as you can imagine, which not only got under the skin of the left — progressives and other CBC lovers — I also got the attention of the CBC itself (again!). Who could have guessed they were reading PTBC?!
At one point, the apparently way-too-large and overstaffed CBC’s legal division sent a heavy legal document via registered mail to my home address telling me I may not “steal” their video material (!) and demanding that I take down several videos that were embedded on PTBC pages, and that I promise in writing to not to use their material anymore. If I didn’t, they’d sue me for $20,000 for each video. They were kind enough to note that I am entitled to my own opinion, see. But then they added that they would be watching me to ensure their demands were met. (So then I’m like not so sure I’m entitled to my freedoms at all!…)

These days, you see CBC and video from all kinds of places all over the internet, and nobody’s getting sued. But anyway, in keeping with my pinky-swear, lots of videos are NOT on PTBC or YouTube today, and won’t be at Rumble (hi CBC! Keep watching me! Say hi to Justin and Chystia!).
The old PTBC videos of yore will be available starting on Friday December 15 at 5:30 PM. Here’s a link: https://rumble.com/c/c-701293
I’m still working on figuring Rumble out, but while I do, please “follow,” “like,” and do whatever you’re supposed to do there.
