That’s how much the liberals’ beloved and yet totally ridiculous long-gun registry (and big, mammoth, government make-work and liberal-left feel-good PR project) is costing Canada. Two MILLION per week. (Hat tip Ross M.)
Columnist Don Martin writes about it in various Canada.com papers this morning (subscription required):
It’s just a hunch, but the guns used in southwest Ontario’s biker gang mass murders last weekend probably won’t be found in the billion-dollar-plus federal firearms registry. And double any wager that the poor farmer who discovered the bodies will have dutifully registered his hunting rifle in the New Brunswick-based computer banks.
It’s really a moot point anyway. The bikers didn’t use hunting rifles to kill, they used handguns. Handguns have been registered for 50 years in this country, and the Conservative government has never had a plan to end that practice.
I could make good use of just one week’s worth of that long-gun registry money-down-the-toilet. For one thing, I’d pay off the debts I’ve incurred running this web site. Then I’d make it bigger and better able to fight government waste and liberal-left ineptitude.
