OTTAWA — The federal Conservatives say they will follow through on a campaign promise to hold a free vote in the House of Commons on same-sex marriage.
While the issue was not mentioned in Tuesday’s throne speech, Justice Minister Vic Toews says the vote will be held “sooner rather than later.”
The Tory campaign platform says if MPs vote to overturn same-sex marriage, a bill will be introduced to restrict marriage to unions between men and women.
A gay rights lobby group is urging the Tories to drop the plan.
Canadian for Equal Marriage says most Canadians feel the issue should be put to rest.
Apparently, judging by the fair and balanced news story above, not one single soul was available from any group anywhere in Canada representing the pro-traditional family, pro-traditional marriage side, so they could only speak of the pro-gay-marriage side in their fair and balanced report.
