Canadians in favour of Iraq War

The article in the liberal Vancouver Sun (Canwest Global) put a terrible negative spin on the story, countering (as best they could) every positive (pro-Iraq war) sentiment with a negative (anti-war) sentiment.

But they can’t hide facts as they themselves present them, as long as you have an interpreter who isn’t a liberal on board.  That’s me!

Here’s the important news for us:  Canadians were found to be in favor of keeping troops in Iraq, and back President Bush’s war effort inasmuch as it overthrew Saddam Hussein.

This is in juxtaposition to, um, everything the liberal-left says, ever.

By a margin of 46 percent to 40 percent, more Canadians favor the U.S. decision to topple Saddam Hussein and to stay in Iraq and tough it out.

Their headline even says that:  Most Canadians back U.S. staying in Iraq.  But then the sub-head quickly points out:  “BBC’s global survey of 35 nations shows most of the world favours withdrawal”.  (To which I immediately thought to myself, “duh”, and “who cares?”).

Most Canadians back U.S. staying in Iraq

Canadians are more inclined than people in most other countries to back the continued presence of American-led troops in Iraq, according to a new global survey. And they’re likelier to endorse the 2003 decision to overthrow Saddam Hussein as well.

But then their next paragraph is:

But like people almost everywhere, Canadians also believe the war in Iraq has increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks around the world.

So ignoring their hideous effort at negative spin, and concentrating instead on what Canada and lots of other countries that aren’t supposed to think this way actually think, here are some salient facts from the big global survey:

Canadians think the Iraq War was the right decision more than they think it was wrong.

So do Americans, by a 60 to 32 margin.

So does Brazil, by a 65 to 29 margin.

So does Poland, by a 65 to 18 margin.

So does Great Britain, by a 49 to 40 margin.

So does Finland, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, India, Australia and Afghanistan.

So do the Iraqis, by a 74 to 23 percent margin.

This web site supports the Iraq War and the struggle for freedom and democracy and the war on terrorism generally, and supports all the troops from all the nations currently engaged in the war on terror from Canada, the U.K., Australia, and of course the United States which is leading the charge as usual.
