Mr. Happy versus Mr. “Clean”

Harper campaign plane

I’ve been led to believe that it’s a tradition for the media who tag along on the campaign planes (and we all know the liberal media lllllovvvve all of Canada’s sacred traditions!), but apparently they make it a practice to huddle together and name their campaign planes.  This year, they named the Stephen Harper campaign jet “Mr. Happy’s Flying Circus”.  I’m not joking.

That might sound irreverent, but during the last election, in 2004, they dubbed it “United Scare Lines”.  Oh the hilarity.  Please, please stop, oh no really, my sides are aching with the laughter, oh, oh, oh dear.  Yeah.

I don’t know what they call Paul Martin’s plane.  I don’t care what they call it.  All I know is that it runs on fossil fuel.  (Get it?)

But here’s something funny:  Paul Martin making a big grandiose speech this morning in Montreal at a big environmentalist conference (and self-worship festival) claiming that “some countries” (oh that wily Liberal—he meant the evil United States of course, but he’s SUCH a diplomat!) aren’t taking this whole man-made global warming thing seriously.  And Canada is, see.

No word on why it is that President George Bush’s conservative Republican-led United States is achieving gang-buster greenhouse gas emission reductions, and doing it their way, while Canada has increased its greenhouse gas emissions by a wide margin.  Thank goodness we signed onto that fabulous Kyoto Accord!  Bush is a moron!  Halliburton!  No blood for oil!  Swing yer partner!

But see, the libs have a “plan”.  I presume it will be phased in over the next 87 years, starting in 2010 with the burning of clean taxpayer cash to heat Parliament.

Team Clean Martin might take a page from Bush’s handbook—or to keep it Canadian, sort of, take a page from Stephen Harper’s handbook.

Here’s something else that’s funny:

Huh? Mr. Clean’s campaign jet is an old (U.S.-made) Boeing 727.  Mr. Harper’s is a newer (European-made) Airbus A320.  Mr. Clean flew to Montreal this morning in his old Boeing campaign plane, to address how it is we all—especially the Americans—need to stop polluting so much.  “We’re in this together!” he demanded, as his flying palace was being refueled.

His Boeing 727 consumes nearly twice as much fuel as Mr. Harper’s jet, and produces nearly twice as much greenhouse gas.  And Mr. Harper’s speeches emit far, far less noxious gas into the air as we know.

**UPDATE 5:28 PM PST:  Reader “hollinm” informs me:
Paul Martin’s plane GUZZLES 1200+ gallons per hour.
Stephen Harper’s =767 per hour.

Paul Martin leased his from Cargo Jet…from his friend who sits on the
board of Cargo Jet. **

And finally, here’s something that’s also so funny that it actually makes me laugh out loud every time I see it, which is rarely:  The Green Party uses plastic lawn signs to drum-up support.  Not hemp signs.  Plastic.

Bush is a moron!

Vote liberal!
