Quebec synchronizes its clocks with Washington to extend daylight time

QUEBEC (CP) – Quebecers who were dreaming of enjoying daylight for an extra hour in the fall and spring will soon get their wish.

The provincial government is on the verge of following the lead of the United States to extend daylight time by two months, according to various government sources.

Daylight time in Quebec now lasts from the beginning of April until the end of October. But with the proposed changes in 2007, the clocks in Quebec would spring forward by one hour the first weekend of March before falling back the last weekend of November.

Government officials and business leaders had pushed for the change, fearing that the economy and trade would suffer if Quebec wasn’t synchronized with its neighbours down south.
