I’ve been trying to get guidance from our leaders. What is Canada doing right at this moment with regard to our national security?
Well, it’s easy to see, all over the news, that in the United States the entire U.S. transport train and related network systems have been upgraded to security alert code level “orange”, from “yellow”. The rest of the nation remains at yellow. Orange is “high level” whereas a yellow is “elevated”. That throws a whole complex of security measures into place, which were already quite stringent and getting more so over time.
In addition, individual American cities and departments therein have upgraded their levels to orange.
Many U.S. officials have commented and explained what they are doing.
In Canada, I understand after some searching across a spectrum of news sources that some liberal elites arranged a conference call from Scotland. Yes, they got on the horn and chatted about it. Ujjal Dosanjh, Anne McLellan, and some other liberal-left socialist elites got together on the phone and chatted. We do not know what they decided. They didn’t see fit to let us in on that. However, I’m tuned into Canada’s state-run news media, waiting to hear.
And this is the closest I’ve come to hearing anything concrete about our national security:
“Obviously we are monitoring the situation and we are also in touch with the British officials,” the prime minister said.
Martin called William Elliott, the security adviser, in Ottawa from the G8 summit in Scotland following the explosions in London. He didn’t say what they spoke about but appeared concerned about security back home.
Well then. Back to my donut. And gay marriage—am I right?
