The 2002 Olympics. It was scandal-ridden—with the Russian judge working in collusion with French….. hey! That sounds familiar! Were they put in charge of the Iraq file after the Olympics? And Oil-for-Food?
Oh good times….
Anyway I made this teeny tiny little Flash flick (so small it’s hardly worth it—you’ll need the free Flash player but you probably already have it).
The point is that it was one of the last times I felt real, overt, jump-up-and-down, screaming, shouting, fists-in-the-air yelping Canadian pride—and boy did it feel good. It WAS good! It was good pride! It was Canadian pride!
People might not even remember champions Jamie Sale and her skating partner David Pelletier… because that’s what we do to our great Canadian champions! But I remember them. Sale and Pelletier warmed my Canadian heart!
