Joel’s PTBC Picayune Question of the Moment: — I’ve noticed the media always shortens the name “Conservative Party of Canada” to “Con”, or to really make what I think is their point, they put it all in caps, to wit: “CON”; or in plural form, the “CONS”.
See they use the first three letters to accentuate what it is they want you to see and think of the Conservative Party (you know, the “CONS”). They don’t use “CPC”, as they do in the case of the NDP (if they did with the NDP what they do with the “CONS”, they have to use “NEW”, or, if using four letters, “NEWD”, the first of which is hilarious inasmuch as they and everything the you’ve got to be kidding party stands for is getting so bloody OLD; and the second of which is probably true at any given moment.).
They always call the CBC the “CBC”, instead of CAN, possibly because they don’t want the folks to think of canning them, as of course they should. Can them. (Not the preservation kind of canning, as in canning fruits, although given that we’re talking about the CBC, I understand the confusion).
The Bloc Quebecois is always shortened to BQ. Not the first three letters as they do with CON, because that which would make it BLO.
They really should be called BLO.
Thank you.
