31,072 scientists sign petition against “man-made global warming” theory and Kyoto

Here’s news of a petition apparently signed by over 31,000 scientists against the so-called (by fascists) “settled science” of “man-made global warming”.  This was sent to me by a reader (Frogg) who follows the debate closely.

I checked out the petition and the controversy surrounding it quite a bit this morning.  Lots of (what turn out to be) rabid political leftists denounce it of course.  See one answer to one of them from the petition’s proponent, below. The biggest criticism of it came from a site which, if you follow the money trail far enough, turns out to be a far-left site site funded partly by a foundation which is in turn funded by the far-left billionaire Bush-hating socialist and political agitprop George Soros, but which is nonetheless well disguised as a legitimate, independent media organization.  George Soros’ name often comes up when looking into sites well disguised as legitimate, independent media organizations.

Still, use your usual dose of healthy skepticism when reading this or any claims made by folks on either side of the totally politicized (thanks liberals!) “settled science” (left-wing political science) of “man-made global warming”.  That’s what I have done over the years, and that has helped me come to the conclusions I have. (And that rational, intellectual approach has earned me the politically devious (and most unscientific) label of “denier”, and “idiot”, and “flat earther” by those genius, junior fascists on the political left who pretend to believe in and know and understand “science” which doesn’t really exist as they claim it.)

ADVISORY: Dr. Arthur Robinson (OISM) to Release Names of over 30,000 Scientists Rejecting Global Warming Hypothesis

May 15, 2008 12:39 PM EDT

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM)

Who: Dr. Arthur Robinson of the OISM

What: release of names in OISM “Petition Project”

When: 10 AM, Monday May 19

Where: Holeman Lounge at the National Press Club, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, DC

Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM’s Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of “settled science” and an overwhelming “consensus” in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.

It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science – including 9,021 PhDs, are not “a few.” Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not “skeptics.”

When it started, the petition was almost immediately—in knee-jerk, robotic, unscientific fashion—condemned by “man-made global warming” advocates as a farce, because they found that one of the signatories was a fella who listed himself as Perry Mason, and as a PhD.  But it turned out there is actually a PhD named Perry Mason.  He is a PhD chemist living in Lubbock, Texas.

In a rebuttal to remarks from a “man-made global warming” advocate who doubted the authenticity of the petition, the petition’s proponent said this:

…The petition was signed by thousands of PhD physical scientists, who are listed by degree on our web site. There was substantial checking of signatures to this petition – only about 1% of which were gathered by Internet. About 95% of the signatures have been independently verified. These included far more relevant experts than were even present at the IPCC [the U.N.‘s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which all “man-made global warming” advocates point to for “proof” and upon which Kyoto was based] meeting. They also included many of America’s most eminent physical scientists – some of whom helped collect the signatures.

Moreover, with respect to your citation of the IPCC, I expect that you know that, of the 1,100 scientists (including 385 Americans) who participated, many disagreed with the final report. These 1,100 cannot be cited as “human caused global warming” supporters because they were never asked to approve the written statements of the IPCC – which, in any case, have been shown by subsequent climate measurements to have been seriously in error. …

As usual, when it comes to the “man-made global warming”, no comments will be allowed, since what I say is correct, and there will be no discussion, since if you discussed it in the negative, you’d be an idiot.
