The disgraceful state-run CBC
has chosen the, well, damn, it’s still the Christmas season, despite their efforts —to broadcast yet another Christ is a myth “news” “documentary”. We know it’s news and fact ‘n stuff, because after all, the CBC is state-owned, and state-run, and it’s being broadcast on their all-news, all the time “Newsworld” channel, and on their 8,000 regular channels across the country. I thought they reserved this sort of broadcasting coverage for their 8,000 rebroadcasts of Michael Moore’s various documentaries, but I guess this is just as true so they gotta get it out there! Plus it’s urgent! Gotta get folks thinking, and doubting, and shunning Christianity during the Christmas season! The benevolent state serves our best interests!
Promising to expose the fact that all you Christians have been, and I quote, “duped” (don’t worry—Christians duped themselves—it’s not the CBC or the author talkin’!), the CBC will use its government mandate and our cash on Thursday and again on Saturday to explain to us dumbhead Canadians this Christmas season that we’re idiots insofar as that whole “Christian” thing, yet again. Atheism is the religion of communists. I threw that last bit in to keep you on track.
Here’s part of the tease they slapped onto their multi-gazillion-dollar web site in order to set you straight:
…what if it could be proven that Jesus never existed? What if there was evidence that every word of the New Testament – the cornerstone of Christianity – is based on myth and metaphor?
Answer: Well golly—I’d join you all in tearing down that damned institution! Which is why I’m so interested in tearing down the state-run media as an institution.
Not enticed by their yummy tease yet? Well maybe you’re just in the Christmas spirit, you total idiot!
During his research, [author Tom] Harpur discovered that the New Testament is wholly based on Egyptian mythology, that Jesus Christ never lived … It was the founders of the Church who duped the world into taking a literal approach to the scriptures. And, according to Harpur, this was their fatal error – and the very reason Christianity is struggling today.
Similarly, the genius Rosie O’Donnell found that “fire can’t melt steel” (notwithstanding that that’s how steel is made), and therefore the whole 9/11 terrorist attack just might be a farce perpetrated by neocons, and Christians, which she also mentioned are “just as dangerous as radical Islamist extremists” (paraphrasing).
At Tom Hapur’s book-sales-oriented web site, which the CBC links to off their site:
…he digs deep into the origins of Christianity and how the early Christian church covered up all attempts to reveal the Bible as myth.
Also at his book sales website, he has two fawning critiques of his book. One written by a man who wrote his critique in a so-called newspaper published by Kevin Potvin of The Republic of East Vancouver—a left-wing mess. [Read my blog entry about Potvin from April here]. The other one was written by the Toronto Star of course, like I had to tell ya!
Kevin Potvin is the one who tried to run for the Green Party last year but wasn’t allowed to (that’s right, even that party rejected him), because it was found he’d made some interesting remarks in the past in his so-called newspaper. For instance, Potvin wrote something in 2002 about the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, wherein he retold his reaction to the passenger jets hitting the twin towers. He wrote, “When I saw the first tower cascade down into that enormous plume of dust and paper, there was a little voice inside me that said, ‘Yeah!’ When the second tower came down the same way, that little voice said, ‘Beautiful!’ When the visage of the Pentagon appeared on the TV with a gaping and smoking hole in its side, that little voice had nearly taken me over, and I felt an urge to pump my fist in the air”.
Huh. He’s also a 9/11 conspiracy theorist—doesn’t believe the official Washington story. Imagine that.
But coincidentally, that’s exactly the quality of review that the CBC looks for when deciding what to broadcast to the nation! This is why they keep broadcasting Little Mosque on the Prairie and everything else they broadcast.
I have no doubt both the CBC and the author have well-rehearsed and pithy answers to any criticism from us about their stupid, indefensible decision to broadcast shows like this at this time of year (or any time for that matter—what’s their mandate again?), but neither you nor I should care a whit what they have to say. They’re despicable, and they prove it themselves every single day.

Clearly, state-owned and state-run media should be banned in this country, and that notion enshrined in our constitution.
