I literally laugh in advance of reading anything they come up with. The report cited in this “news” story by David Pugliese of CanWest News Service calls the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives “left-leaning”. Gee. Ya think? And Cuba is “rather left”, then. Right? Actually I’m “extreme right” if I understand correctly.
In my opinion, few organizations are or even could be more odiously left-wing and anti-Harper, anti-conservative, anti-capitalist, anti-Bush, anti-American, and anti-anything that isn’t overtly fringe left-wing and socialist to the core. But it’s front-page news to the liberal media which dutifully writes up any report they barf out.
At least they called them “left-leaning” in this one rare instance. Normally, left-wing outfits like that are described as being of no particular political flavor —or they’re “the prestigious” or “the well established”. The Fraser Institute, which it seems to me has to buy ad space in order to get their daily studies published, is always described as some form of suspicious “right-wing” group. It’s in the liberal media writing guide and code book. Ann Coulter is described as a right-wing member of the American Christian conservative right. Linda McQuaig is described as a successful, well-known columnist and author.
Afghan peril greater than Iraq: report
A Canadian soldier in Kandahar is nearly six times more likely to die in hostilities than a U.S. soldier serving in Iraq, according to a new report to be released today.
The study of fatalities in Afghanistan details the sacrifice made by Canadian soldiers, confirming what military leaders have already hinted at: that the Canadian Forces is shouldering a substantial amount of the combat burden in the southern Asia country.
The report by the left-leaning Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives found that after the U.S., Canada has sustained the highest number of military deaths as a result of hostile action in Afghanistan since the war began in late 2001.
Apparently they’re real mathematics geniuses too.
Canada’s liberal-left will do anything they can possibly do to destroy the nation’s resolve in Afghanistan. To reduce at any cost (and the cost is tremendously high for our future as a civilization) the level of support for our noble mission there. They’ll stop at nothing to lower the morale of this nation and more importantly at the moment, of our troops —and to destroy future recruiting hopes. They will issue report after report condemning everything about the mission there—and in Iraq—in order to promote their pessimistic, gloomy world view, even if it means putting our nation’s hopes for very important victory in the war on terror on ice.
Rather than paying a healthy respect as I do, they’re obsessed with fatalities among our forces. Obsessed with the dead soldiers, whom they pretend to care so much about. They ignore their successes no matter how stupid they look in so doing. They’re obsessed with the negative. They can’t stop talking about the dead on our side. They can’t because if they did, their hidden agenda would fail.
UPDATE: I noticed that the state-run CBC is dutifully carrying the whole “news conference” staged by the “rather communist” (—my words as if you didn’t know) Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives to promote their far leftist agenda.
State employee and state-run news media anchor Nancy (“very interesting!”) Wilson set up the story like this:
“Well—on this deadly day for Canadian forces in Afghanistan, a NON PROFIT THINK TANK [my emphasis—she sounded almost embarrassed saying that… but not quite!] is raising concerns about the number of Canadian casualties [Hey Nancy—it is “a deadly day” today! Isn’t that enough of a report”?].
In a new report released today, the [no descriptor] Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives for says this country is bearing the brunt of coalition deaths and the group is questioning whether the government expected such a high number of casualties!”
