Canadian Gun License Holders Increase to New All-Time Historic High

Let me just say right off that I realize “New All-Time Historic High” is a redundancy salad, but I’ve learned from the leftists that when it comes to guns, truth and honesty and facts and science and, well, words don’t matter. Say whatever you want! The scarier or more lofty the better!

The lefties still call the AR-15 an “assault rifle” and say that it is more dangerous than, say, any other semi-automatic. It’s almost comedic the things they say about guns but that one in particular. For that matter, they still use “automatic” in place of “semi-automatic,” and in any case, don’t have a clue what either of those things mean. All they know is “take them away!” “Ban them!” “Only the government should have guns to use against the citizens!” “Disarm the citizens because… reasons!”

Millions of Canadians disagree. And now, at least 2.3 million Canadians have a gun license, just like me and my wife. And who knows how many millions of others are happy that we do. And how many might choose to get on board themselves as word gets around — because word does get around as gun-owners are a great bunch and love to talk about their guns and their gun-related outings (and laugh at the latest silly thing anti-gun people said).

These stats are thanks to the work of TheGunBlog.ca who made inquiries of the RCMP and got the facts. Good on them. Subscribe to their newsletter!

I’m proud that gun lovers in BC — my province — had the highest increase in gun license holders over the past 5 yrs — an 18% increase! Across Canada, gun license holders are at an all-time high. Up 177,724 or 8%.

I think almost everybody who can get a gun license, should. It’s not easy. You need a clean police record, no marital issues (your spouse has to sign off on it), no mental health issues, no issues of any kind, really. And then you have to take courses. And pass them. And abide by rules. Many rules. And be constantly police-checked.

I took the course with my wife and we had good fun. We both got the higher-up “Restricted” license meaning extra course work and tests allowing us to buy and possess semi-automatic handguns and semi-automatic rifles. We wanted to have more fun and we are!

Shooting is great fun and as the progs say, “empowering.” I think it also makes for a safer, more secure country.
