You and I have something in common. Whether you are black or white, male or female, gay or straight, Mike Adams fan or unhinged lunatic we still have something in common: We are little more than the sum total of the choices we have made. Where many of us differ is in our view of the role government should play in the lives of individual citizens.
I generally agree with the notion that government is best which governs least. I believe that government is bad when it shields citizens from the consequences of their choices. I believe it is worse when it deprives them of the freedom to make choices altogether.
So I have been surprised at the tone of some of the questions directed towards me by Libertarians after some of my campus speeches – including UMASS-Amherst and Agnes Scott College. I am often asked by Libertarians some version of the following question:
“How can you describe yourself as a Republican with some libertarian leanings when you are pro-life?” – although some foolishly say “anti-choice.”
The answer to that question is pretty simple. The true libertarian is pro-life because what has come to be known as the “pro-choice” position is actually “anti-choice” – in a classically Orwellian sense. This is true for a couple of fairly simple reasons.
First, the right to abortion was established via action at the federal level. One judicial body made a choice that took away the ability of fifty legislative bodies to make a choice about the legality of a controversial procedure. Hence, it was a net loss for choice. In fact, one could say “My legislative body, my choice!” or “Get your laws off my body politic!”
Second, abortion is fundamentally anti-choice because the decision to abort is only one choice. Whenever that choice is made a lifetime of choices are prevented. The average life is over 27,000 days long and we all make dozens of choices daily. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that each abortion results in an average net loss of at least a million choices.
Libertarians, therefore, should be adamantly opposed to abortion as a matter of principle. That most of them are not suggests that it is not the brain but another part of the body that is guiding their decision on the issue.
There are also good political reasons why Libertarians should oppose abortion and do so vocally. Abortion is the one issue that can be used to break the Democratic stranglehold on the black vote, which, in turn, can ultimately help Libertarians and Republicans reduce the size of government.
It is simply shameful that many Republicans have given up on the black vote. It was a Republican president who freed the slaves. His Democratic successor then fought hard against the ratification of the 14th Amendment and its promise of equal protection under the laws. After he failed he was replaced by a Republican president who fought for the rights of blacks – starting the fight on his very first day in office with an acceptance speech asserting the right of blacks to vote. And let us not forget that it was a Republican president who sent the National Guard to Arkansas to fight racist Democrats on the issue of segregation.
Democrats have always been racists undeserving of even a small portion of the black vote. But the black community was bought off by FDR decades ago and later appeased by LBJ in his nearly fifty year War on Poverty.
Since then, there has emerged a situation that gives hope to opponents of the Democrats and their big-spending liberalism. Abortion is now literally killing over half the black community. Just over 51% of black pregnancies end in abortion. But Republicans, to date, have been either too cowardly or too stupid to use this as an effective political tool.
Republicans should not be calling one Democrat a racist because he noted correctly that Barack Obama is “light-skinned” and used the tragically un-hip (but not racist) term “negro.” Political correctness should have no place in the GOP. It is never in the best interests of right thinking people.
Instead, Republicans should be calling all Democrats racists because their most sacred political position is resulting in the genocidal destruction of the black community. Black or white, a man simply cannot accept a handout once his hands have been severed by the abortionists’ instrument of “choice.”
Through sheer repetition of the fact that the new Democratic policy of abortion is killing blacks at a faster rate than the old Democratic policy of lynching we can make significant gains among black voters. Like most white voters, most black voters are not stupid but uninformed. And the tool of repetition works effectively – not just for the propagandist, but for those willing to speak the truth.
Libertarians should be opposed to abortion because of their love for the individual and his right to make choices. If not, he should be opposed to abortion because of his hatred for the Democrats and their propensity to grow governments.

Mike S. Adams was born in Columbus, Mississippi on October 30, 1964. While a student at Clear Lake High School in Houston, TX, his team won the state 5A soccer championship. Mike Adams graduated from C.L.H.S. in 1983 with a 1.8 GPA. Mike Adams was ranked 734 among a class of 740, largely as a result of flunking English all four years of high school. After obtaining an Associate's degree in psychology from San Jacinto College, Mike Adams moved on to Mississippi State University where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity. While living in the fraternity house, his GPA rose to 3.4, allowing him to finish his B.A., and then to pursue a Master's in Psychology. In 1990, Mike Adams turned down a chance to pursue a PhD in psychology from the University of Georgia, opting instead to remain at Mississippi State to study Sociology/Criminology. This decision was made entirely on the basis of his reluctance to quit his night job as member of a musical duo. Playing music in bars and at fraternity parties and weddings financed his education. Mike Adams also played for free beer.

Upon getting his doctorate in 1993, Adams, then an atheist and a Democrat, was hired by UNC-Wilmington to teach in the criminal justice program. A few years later, Adams abandoned his atheism and also became a Republican. He also nearly abandoned teaching when he took a one-year leave of absence to study law at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1998. After returning to teach at UNC-Wilmington, Adams won the Faculty Member of the Year award (issued by the Office of the Dean of Students) for the second time in 2000.

After his involvement in a well publicized free speech controversy in the wake of the 911 terror attacks, Adams became a vocal critic of the diversity movement in academia. After making appearances on shows like Hannity and Colmes, the O'Reilly Factor, and Scarborough Country, Adams was asked to write a column for Townhall.com.

Today Mike Adams enjoys the privilege of expressing himself both as a teacher and a writer. Mike Adams is also an avid hunter and reader of classic literature. Mike Adams published his first book, Welcome to the Ivory Tower of Babel, in 2004. His second book, Feminists Say the Darndest Things: A Politically Incorrect Professor Confronts "Womyn" On Campus, was published in 2008.
