Liberal McCallum in gay Paris: we might raise the GST if we get power back! Vote Liberal!

imageLiberal John McCallum in France:  As if drunk on that famous cheap French wine Thierry & Guy Fat Bastard (tasting notes sound like description of any liberal: “Deep crimson red. Berries, red fruits and spicy notes on the nose. Typically spicy Shiraz aromas on the palate as well as more complex aromas from the time spent in oak. Ideal with grilled red meat, lamb, spicy foods and full bodied cheeses), Liberal Party doh-doh John McCallum says perhaps it would be a good idea to raise taxes.  Campaign promises like this start lookin’ real good after a few jugs o’ cheap wine.

Liberals consider pledge to hike GST

OTTAWA – The Liberal party is debating whether it should pledge to reverse the $6-billion cut to the GST made by the Conservatives, as a means of funding broad-based income tax cuts.

John McCallum John McCallum, the party’s finance critic, is understood to have pushed the idea of increasing the federal goods and services tax back to 7%.

“It’s an option. All I can say is that it is consistent with our approach. But I’m not about to say that the Liberal party will raise the GST because that’s not been decided,” he said in an interview from Paris, where he is attending an OECD meeting.

Tell ya what:  Save cash by not going to Parisian hors d’oeuvre parties, and make broad income tax cuts in addition to cutting the GST.  Bonjour.
