Please people. I implore you.
Tell me how this is a core function of government:
La cucaracha, la cucaracha
Ya no puede caminar
Porque no tiene, porque le falta
Marijuana que fumar.
(The cockroach, the cockroach
Now he can’t go traveling
Because he doesn’t have, because he lacks
Marijuana to smoke.)
Naturally, that (by which I mean la cucarachas and la Marijuanas) is the kind of thing the benevolent Canadian government thought would “stimulate” the economy. You know, with the “stimulus” cash. Without which we the people would be doomed to failure. As a people. A culture. A species. A nation. As Canadians. Upon which I suggest they then took another toke of their taxpayer-paid marijuana cigarachas.
Globalfest Calgary is Ottawa’s latest tourism stimulus spending. However, its grant was so late, organizers proved the event could run successfully without it. CTF’s Scott Hennig says there’s no proof that any of the program’s $100 million spending, including Toronto’s gay pride parade & the Calgary Stampede, was a wise use of tax dollars.
Here’s some like-minded lógica (or lack thereof) for you: At our current rate of progressively growing government, and the carefully-crafted and nurtured reliance-on-government by way of taxpayer funding for every, single, thing by progressives in and out of government: explain to me how TAXPAYER FUNDING OF ALL BUSINESS is not coming up next, since, to follow their ever so sound economic arguments (or as they say in communist Cuba, “argumentos económicos”), business “contributes to the economy”. And the ones which contribute the most should ipso facto get the biggest taxpayer grant, sí señor?
Olé.
And here’s a gratuitous picture of Fidel Castro:
