Home-grown terror and home-grown mentors

Posted on Monday, June 12, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Home-grown. It’s not just for vegetables, anymore.

But while the focus is on Canadian-born terrorists, turning against the only homeland they’ve ever known, there are mentors aplenty in the same category.

The real mentors of hate are as home-grown as maple syrup. They are the same-sex coupling of the loon-left media and left-loon academia.

The derivative arguments about the “social justice” concerns of terrorists are back. But analysts still cannot explain how killing innocent Canadians, itself an issue of justice, redresses injustices so far removed from the “theatre of operations.”

In the wake of last year’s London bombings, I wrote of the influence of Western anti-Westerners on vulnerable youth “of colour,” such as the ones who carried out the attacks. I wrote of bewildering, bigoted, BCTF (BC Teachers’ Federation) resolutions and failed resolutions, with regard to the Jewish State of Israel and the impact of all that in terms of “home-grown” terror right here in BC.

Just now consider the exact tone of reports of the death of al-Zarqawi, that weapon of mass destruction found in Iraq. Before any actual Muslim group said so, it was the Western media that declared the dead thug a martyr, without showing one piece of evidence of any martyrdom ceremony for the eliminated beast.

Barely days before his death, Zarqawi’s intractability was a marker of his invincibility. Now “experts” are emphasizing that Zarqawi was but a small fraction of the overall terror quotient in Iraq. You would think our media had some personal stake in not wanting the death to undermine continued terror against the American-led liberation of Iraq.

In the immediate aftermath of the splendid arrests of terror back east, extremist Law professors foamed at the mouth about the civil liberties of average Canadians. Yet there is not a shred of proof that real Canadians engage in activities that would regularly elicit suspicions of terror.

So the spin shifted ground. Somewhat. Sociologists are whipping up fears of a “backlash” against “innocent Muslims.” But again, innocent people of all backgrounds are as distinguishable from terror suspects as night and day.

Literally. Casey Grenier, neighbour of Steven Chand, the arrested suspect who reportedly personally wanted to behead Harper, said of the home in which Chand rented a basement suite, “You never see them during the day … always … early in the morning.” Grenier, apparently a Toronto Transit bus driver on the pre-graveyard shift, added, “I get home at about 2:30, 3 o’clock [in the morning] and you always see people coming in and out….”

It brings to mind that great line from one of the house managers/prosecutors in the impeachment of ex-president Bubba Billy Clinton. “My daddy used to say, ‘if you’re running around all hours of night, you a’int up to no good,’” referring to reported frantic, frenetic meetings at the oddest hours before dawn, involving apparent attempts to keep then White House intern Monica Lewinsky from blabbing.

Indeed, Ontario Liberal MP Wajid Khan, a Muslim, told the CBC, in the wake of the arrests, that his fellow-adherents must “actively seek out” terrorists in their midst, rather than going out of their way to dismiss seriously suspicious behaviour.

RCMP Assistant Commissioner Mike McDonell said of the suspects, “They’re all residents of Canada and for the most part, they’re all citizens,” adding, “They represent the broad strata of our community.” Perhaps that prompted Alvin Chand, suspect Steven Chand’s brother, to scoff in his brother’s defense: “He’s not a terrorist, come on, he’s a Canadian citizen.”

Perhaps that prompted Steven Chand himself to blow kisses to supporters at his arraignment. Perhaps he was thanking the RCMP, no less.

Perhaps good Canadians should scoff that perhaps the RCMP needs a new acronym: PCMP, Politically Correct Mounted Police.

Terror suspects are not like us. The CBC insists that they’re “in transition between Islam and Western society.” Excuse me! Terror is not a transition. Terror is full-term barbarity.

I said it in the wake of the London bombings. I say it again. These people, home-grown or not, are cold-blooded cowards. We should mark them with the mark of Cain.

Long arm of anti-war anti-logic

Posted on Thursday, June 01, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

You gotta give it to the loon-left. These peace-prattlers pack a heckuva Kentucky long gun.

Just weeks ago, the story was not the spectacular gun registry overruns. Heck no. The story was the leak. Who (read: “Conservatives!!” ) leaked the imminent Auditor General’s report of the overruns?

Never mind what costs ex-natural governing Liberanos shot up…. It’s the leak, stupid!

In the interim, never mind news about Harper actually doing his job, doing the people’s business. It’s this or that reporter to whom Harper won’t talk that is the news!!!

And now, for the sockdolager. It’s not the foul name-calling, targetting world leaders, by a Liberal Senator that is the issue. It’s the “apparent,” “unintended” slurs of Conservatives. Here’s how CanWest Publications did the hatchet job in their Vancouver Sun, May 30:

“Insults, both deliberate and unintended, along with partisan sniping and skepticism marred Senate hearings on Afghanistan on Monday, as one senator called President Hamid Karzai a “stooge” and Canada’s foreign affairs minister suggested Afghans live in houses unfit for cattle.”

My favourite piece of the spin: “suggested”. Foreign Affairs Minister, Peter MacKay, supposedly “suggested” that Afghans live like cattle. So, of course, it doesn’t really matter what he actually said. Suggestion is in the spin of the hearer.

So it hardly matters that Mackay said that we must stay the course and indeed intensify our efforts precisely because Afghans, liberated after generations of unspeakable oppression, cannot yet afford much more than the standard of living of a hovel.

So CanWest can brazenly attempt to turn a point of empathy from Mackay into an ethnic slur. Just as if I said that we need to help the homeless so they don’t eat out of garbage bins, you claim that I “suggested” that the homeless eat garbage unfit even for dogs in the streets, which, of course could mean anything from a simple failure to grasp a harsh reality to a cold-blooded put down.

In Vancouver anyway, there is no competition to speak back to what I have called the industrial incest that is CanWest, with its “coupling cousins,” The Vancouver Sun and The Province.

All we have is Jimmie’s rag, 24 hours (Vancouver), a 50/50 venture of Jimmy Pattison and Sun media. As, I have relayed before, this is, inexplicably, not a place to seek relief from left-loon spin. Consider a more recent illustration of my point.

“NDP up in Polls,” screams a 24 hours, May 31 headline. Our provincial NDP, that is. This was shocking because just weeks back, a major Mustel poll put them a whopping 17 points behind our provincial Liberals.

Guess what. They’re phantom “polls.” First, they’re not polls, just a poll, which turns out to be nothing more than “internal poll numbers presented at [an NDP] caucus retreat”! Talk about self-serving statistics. You might as well say, “Pedophile approval up in polls,” based on thousands of surveys of “self-affirming” pedophiles.

Don’t chuckle. Mark my words, we’re not far off from such crack-crazy days!

Forget CanWest anti-Conservative “suggestion.” The BC alternative is to remove the need for spin in the first place. Present one side only.

Gwyn Morgan and Australian Rules Common Sense

Posted on Monday, May 29, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Never mind Aussie rules football. In the land Down Under, where the outback goes deep into the “back of beyond,” the deepest bush is nevertheless within a single hand-grip of plain common sense.

Call it Australian rules common sense.

Even as his travelling Prime Minister was taking the US and Canada both, Australian acting Prime Minister, Treasurer Peter Costello, true to his Christian name, was laying a smack-down Conservative agenda like Ayers Rock, his country’s famed landmark.

“It doesn’t matter what the colour of your skin is – a rape is a rape,” Costello blasted, supporting plans to scrap so-called “cultural law,” used to reduce sentences for aborigines. No more PC co-optation.

In Canada, culture makes justice and truth mere collateral damage. The ugliest demonstration came recently in the instance of Gwyn Morgan.

First, a background detail. Drug violence in Toronto is driven by young, male, illiterate “arrivals,” from Jamaica. Strictly speaking, they’re not even immigrants, but a perversion of the concept, complete with muscular juvenile criminal records.

Apparently this comes as an epiphanic revelation to nice white liberals. Accordingly, about two weeks ago, federal NDPers spearheaded a motion to reject celebrated businessman, Gwyn Morgan, to head the government’s new review board for public appointments.

You see, fresh from a lifetime in oil and gas, retired President and CEO, now Vice-Chairman of the Board of EnCana, Mr. Morgan gave a speech late last year, in which he opined among other things, that “The run-away violence [is] driven mainly by Jamaican immigrants in Toronto.”

The horror, the horror. The horror of truth. Of that truth that cannot fornicate with evil.

Worse, Morgan questioned multiculturalism. Can you believe it? Questioned. Well, I write for a black, female Publisher/Editor who does not “question” multiculturalism – she dismisses it with a passion; she wants the very word retired from the entire ethnic lexicon. And, oh, by the way, she is politically just about as clearly on the left as the NDP.

Michelle Lee Williams, Founding Editor of BC based The Afro News is a lifelong admirer of the late, great, beloved Rosemary Brown, NDP MLA in BC. The two pioneered community terms across a close friendship.

If the force behind the voice of Black BC does not consider multiculturalism some sacred cow, shouldn’t that give breathing space to a white, no less groundbreaking entrepreneur?

In 2003 and 2004, EnCana Corp; the world’s largest independent oil and gas producer, was Canada’s most profitable company, with some $3.5 billion (U.S.) in profits on $12.2 billion in revenue. The man behind that magic now steps forward to serve his country for a dollar a day. That’s right, that’s what he would have received in the Accountability post.

It’s called noblesse oblige. “To whom much is given, from him much is expected.”

The NDP have no such class. They know only crass race-baiting. Except when they opt for crass class warfare.

Morgan, 57, the youngest of four children, came up from a hardscrabble Alberta farm which gave him the guts to say that recent riots in France and Australia showed that multiculturalism had bred “subcultures bearing little relation to the mainstream culture and values of the country.”

Ain’t that the sorry truth. So, strictly for my fans, I’ll go one step more sorry.

Multiculturalism is now the preferred instrument for turning culture

against

civilization.

Placing all cultures on a par, multiculturalism empties all standards in a commode of common alternatives.

Morgan’s parents taught him that “If the world deals you a tough blow, buck up and move on.” Isn’t that then exactly the man black kids need to hear from?

White liberals would prefer to sequester blacks in a ghetto of derecognized language and undreamt ambitions under the strict patrol of unresolvable history.

We know the mantra: blacks are uniquely the only immigrant group who did not come to America voluntarily, who came in chains. But you can use history to hold people back in worse ways than they were ever held down in the first place.

It’s a diabolical ruse, to boot. What really gets the loony-left is that Morgan celebrated Harper as “a person who openly honours Christian values.” Media reports were that “This raised a red flag for the opposition liberals.”

Now the truth comes out. Nothing offends liberals like them ol’ time Christian pontifications. Morgan savaged the felonious compartmentalization of serial groper, Billy-Bubba Clinton, who famously bridged professional accomplishments across an outrageous personal compass.

Blacks, traditionally the worst victims of such gross inconsistencies, would thank Morgan. So the Great White Hypocrites had to take him out.

Kennedy, Trudeau sign bipolar pact

Posted on Saturday, May 20, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Just over a month or so ago, junior Kennedy booze-brain, Patrick, Congressman for Rhode Island and son of major Kennedy boozehound, Ted Kennedy, Senator from Massachusetts, rammed his car into the door of another car as he tried to make a turn into a pharmacy.

So quite naturally, about two weeks ago, Pharma-Patrick decided to blame the entire pharmaceutical industry for yet another auto mishap in which he barely missed a police cruiser but hit a police barrier. At a press conference, he claimed depression, blamed prescriptions, framed himself as bipolar.

“No sobriety test was administered.” Well, actually, the police failed to breathalyze him. Er – actually, the police were told not to administer a sobriety test, but, instead, were told to drive him home.

On the police form, the box referring to sobriety was “checked.” But I still can’t quite make out from the news reports if the box had been checked in a way that indicated that Kennedy was impaired, or, not impaired.

Apparently, I’m not alone. Kennedy has denied being drunk – in spite of the report about the police form. And since there was no actual sobriety test, the police have not been able to interpret their own form – conclusively, one way or another. Instead, the Watch Commander who took charge of the whole situation was “reassigned.”

In the meantime, Kennedy, now comfortably ensconced in rehab at the famed Mayo Clinic, has what PR people call “full deniability.”

As a direct descendant of Dr. Johnson, let me give you some savage new language:

Deniability is the abortion clinic of credibility.

Deniability is where you go to get the spin-doctor to displace an undeniable truth, repackaging it as a mere phantom of its breathing reality so as to serve the purpose of any claim whatsoever.

Despite further details about his “unsteady balance,” “smell of alcohol” and “red eyes,” Pharma-Patrick will be able to insist – convincingly – that he was not drunk. The police will then simply have to “drop” the whole case.

As these matters go, at the exact moment when Pharma-Patrick was playing the pharmacard at that press conference, former ’60s Canadian flower child, now aging Mapleflower Mama Maggie, ex-wife of late Prime Minister Trudeau, gave a press conference to announce that she had been bipolar for ages.

And of course we know this to be an undeniable truth. For Julie said so. Julie Van Dusen of our Communist Broadcast of Canada (CBC), who announced that Maggie Trudeau “suffered from depression for years.” Not, “Margaret Trudeau claims she suffered.” Of course not. If the Fairy Godmother of all Flower Power said so, it’s so, bro.

Just as we know that Pharma-Patrick was sorry about the whole mess in which he found himself. For CNN said so. At exactly 20:00 hours EST, on the day the story broke, leading right into the primetime post-news slot, CNN, which had been reporting on the Kennedy debacle all day, declared him, “A Contrite Congressman.” Not, “the Congressman who now says he is sorry….” No. That would take something from the boy and give it over to plain journalism. Can’t have that. Not where the legacy of liberalism, no less, is at stake.

Pharma-Patrick himself, however, said only “the incident …concerns me greatly.” Can you believe it? As if he were talking about someone else. Indeed, as if he were the investigating authority called upon to comment on and respond to a disturbing situation involving a person of privilege, in order to make sure that justice is not compromised.

It’s the most brazen and twisted “third person passive” articulation made famous by – who else? – Bill Clinton. Bubba Bill’s “mistakes were made,” “wrongheaded views were had,” now serve as classic substitutes for “I confess to a serious lapse in judgement.”

Paula Zahn, whose CNN show used to be promoted to the sound of a man’s zipper – well, she sure knows a good cover when she slips under one. She decided to look at the Kennedy matter in terms of what she called a perspective relevant to “the rest of the country,” that of prescription drugs.

In other words, Zahn wanted us to buy the whole spin – pill, pop, and pity.

And thus the bipolar Canada-US left-lib pact was a done deal in election off-year 2006.

Cindy Sheehan auditions for Lone-Tear Indian role in TV Commercial

Posted on Friday, May 12, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Big-boned Cindy blew into town a weekend ago with a force the Natives had not seen since the Smallpox Decimation.

And when word got out that Big Cindy was here to audition for the role of the Indian with the single tear drop in yet another revival of the 1970s eco-correct “Keep America Beautiful” TV commercial, the crowd that had gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery to protest on behalf of Natives back east in Caledonia, went into utter disarray.

But American protester Cindy Sheehan had become famous for well-honed moments of tears, denouncing her country’s involvement in Iraq, Afghanistan and just about anywhere else. The unknowable ContraMerica Media Ltd. behind the latest revival of the now classic Tear-Drop Indian public service announcement said Big Cindy was a logical choice for the piece.

Still, Natives stormed the nearby downtown Vancouver Main Library. A lovely lady librarian, a liberal (by day), stood ready to help with e-mails, free faxes (for Natives only), inter-library Friends of Natives text messaging.

“Forget that CaledoniCrap!” one Native alert after another said. “They tryin’ to take Lone-Tear Indian from us.”

The lovely liberal librarian was never more impressed with such quick learners – “right from the get-go,” she said. “Beautiful beginners,” she called them, making sure not to say “Aboriginal,” which actually means “from the beginning.”

Big bad Cindy too, nailed her mark from the get-go. Her Vancouver Sun photo, with that single tear dramatically bobbing off her robust cheeks, then remarkably drooling back down her spectacular giraffe neck, was such that the Province, the Sun’s cousin-rival in that industrial incest known as CanWest Publications, simply reprinted the same photo – in colour.

“We feel for Big Cindy,” the Natives relayed, “but we gotta keep Tear-Duct Indian, Injun, eh.” The lovely liberal lady librarian gently explained to them that Iron Eyes Cody from the original Keep America Beautiful PSA, was in fact Sicilian.

The Natives wouldn’t hear of it. As we go to press, however, the only snag that had emerged in terms of the actual shoot of the PSA was that Big Cindy was asking that the “Keep America Beautiful” slogan be changed to “America Too-Ugly,” at least till President Bush leaves the White House.

For that, 24 hours Vancouver, Jimmie Pattison’s experimental rag, gave Big Cindy its front-page headline, “War, what is it good for?” with further musings from her somewhat to the effect that, “I do not support your government’s support of my President’s support of war-mongering,” leading her to conclude that “the war on terror is a terror against the world.”

You see, Big Cindy’s a poet-philosopher now. So, of course, 24 hours didn’t ask her if terrorists are real or political phantoms curiously capable of killing.

Rags to Riches derailed by Race

Posted on Saturday, May 06, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

They won’t fight the war on terror, except to undermine it. But in their oldest crusade — the war on wealth — liberals have turned their race card to gold.

Barely two weeks ago, at the annual conference of Britain’s Royal Economic Society, the usual suspects presented the latest findings in the connection between the earnings of their favoured research “cohorts,” sons and fathers. Upward mobility fared none too well, even in countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, with their vaunted Scandinavian socialized distribution of wealth.

And — here it comes — intergenerational income similarities were most pronounced among the particularly poor, the poorest 20 percent. In the U.S.

So there you have it. “Particularly” poor. In big, bad America. Code Alert! Code Alert! Black.

The so-called “new” study hammers home the inexorable conclusion:

“The ‘rags-to-riches’ depiction of intergenerational mobility in the United States is a myth: upward mobility is especially low there.”

The report then gives us new language for a new myth. The “persistence” of poverty. As they say, “there is a substantial earnings “persistence’ across the generations in all countries.” Especially among the very poor — and the very rich.

So forget “Get rich — or die trying!” If your daddy is a real 50 Cent-er, that’s what you’ll be. It’s “Be rich — and beget rich.” Down the line. “As you be, so you beget.” Well, you get the message.

The liberal media and their puppet-masters in academia love it. Frank Atkins, a professor of economics at the University of Calgary, says it’s not just how much money your father earned that matters, but how much your grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather earned. In other words, there never was any truth to the myth of upward mobility.

Liberals have been losing their war on wealth ever since Disco Siren, Donna Summer, immortalized black transition to workfare from welfare: “She works hard for the money”.

That Darling of Democrats, Bill Clinton, pronounced “the end of welfare as we know it.”

Liberals had to try again. About two years ago, Statistics Canada researcher Miles Corak, presented “Generational Income Mobility in North America and Europe,” on the consequences of childhood poverty for income status in adulthood.

Oh, Corak stresses that things like education can make a difference, but he still rails against any success that depends on “something [you] inherit by the accident of birth.”

The “accident of birth.” It’s a good culprit. Except, of course, when liberals want to use it to get criminals off the hook. Then, whatever “syndrome” you supposedly inherited from your alcoholic, poor, uneducated, “ethnically marginalized” (code: black; Native) parents, “excuses and explains away” just about any bad behaviour.

Years ago, when Reagan Republicans wanted to declare black ghettoes “enterprise zones” complete with ownership of public housing (!), Democrats balked. They don’t want blacks leaving the liberal plantation. The new liberal myth of the persistence of poverty is suspiciously like the old. Liberalism displays what I call the “Aggressive Stupidity Syndrome.” A.S.S.

But unlike conservatives, liberals know never to quit. They mutate and multiply. To fight another day.

They won’t get away with it. For upward mobility of black sons, you first require a black father. Not a sperm-spender. For it is written, he who spreads his seed to the wind “will inherit the wind” ( Proverbs 11:29).

Black poverty across generations is not social; it is metaphysical. It is the poverty of presence. Or lack thereof. The dingbats in Economics departments cannot begin to grasp that. You cannot in any meaningful sense investigate why black sons fare no better than black fathers if you’re dealing with black sons without black fathers. Unlike white sons who at least have white fathers.

Being unfathered defeats the entire liberal inquiry. That’s the new language that’s needed here. With regard to poor blacks, there is no black childhood. There is only “unfatherhood.” The factor of the “unfather.” The U.Q. Unfather Quotient.

Black kids don’t have a low I.Q. They suffer from a low U.Q.

Black marriage needs to be aggressively rewarded exactly as black illegitimacy needs to be savagely penalized. The obvious response to the obvious worry that black women will be forced into abusive relationships, is that you punish abusive husbands with capital punishment! They’ll get the message then.

The trouble, of course, is that liberals will trade one loony wrist-slap for only more of the same. Soft on slackers. Soft on abusers. Soft on every criminal. Is it any wonder the results are as they are?

And how liberals pick and choose. Their fetish attends the inheritance only of cold cash. Why don’t they feel the same way about inheriting good blood, brains and personality? Where are the studies upon stilts of the devastating “shame” of the inherited sickle cell trait, shot through with the explicit hint that those merely “lucky” to escape such a curse should somehow compensate those condemned through no fault of their own?

How long will it be before liberals start forcing people to donate that unused kidney to the sufficiently desperate luckless? Mark my words, they’ll begin with black victims who are in fact the least of their actual concern and diabolical agenda.

Come back to Caledonia and Common Sense, Jimmie P. Jimmie P.

Posted on Monday, May 01, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

“Natives Protest Violence,” howls one of the latest editions of The Chant of Jimmie Moneysmith, otherwise known as 24 hours (Vancouver). That’s how Jimmie’s rag-in-technicolour covered local (Vancouver) support for the Native Indian situation brewing back east in Caledonia, Ontario.

You know Jimmie Moneysmith of course, the big Kahuna behind The Jim Pattison Group, a monument to Canadian Capitalism, and to the man now struck down by one merciless post-middle age crazy bout of left-libberphilia, leading Ol’ Jimmie to appoint super-socialist, super-disgraced ex-Premier of BC, Glen Clark, as “president” of his media experiment, complete with whacko-Comrade, former Richmond News (BC) editor, Dean Broughton, as 24 hours founding “editor-in-chief.”

With so many “chiefs” is it any wonder these bozos are so confused about Indians?

Broughton is up to his old tricks. His ever-favourite Richmond News feature was another story of the ever-exploding homeless rate under Cruel Campbell, in which, incidentally, the actual number of homeless people would turn out to be lower than the number of people counting them!

24 hours must literally count the days in between front-page covers featuring the down and out. … The homeless brandishing their brand new noise-free bins for collecting empties: an achievement as eco-correct as it is in every other way “progressive.” … The homeless spilling out of Church pews, where they sleep all day, all night, as a direct result (yup) of Campbell’s welfare reform….

But this unconscionable race-baiting of the Caledonia case takes the cake — the whole massive cake in the recent front-cover 24 hours one-year anniversary, with Ol’ Jimmie blowing out the candles.

Jimmie’s apprentices don’t even pretend, like their comrades, to take cover with the usual “alleged,” “claimed,” “reported.” Here’s their “up front” byline in bold-type from just April 26:

Hundreds of frustrated natives took to the streets of
Vancouver to show their disdain for a violent police raid
on an unarmed Six Nations camp in Ontario last week.

Say what! First off, it wasn’t a “Six Nations camp.” The property on which a few, not all, Six Nations protesters “camped out” is not on the reserve! You can’t make disputed territory Indian just by saying so in the media. What are courts for?

And as for “unarmed,” well, any victim of a home invasion will tell you: the simple presence of the invader is weapon enough. Just remember what 19 boys with box-cutters did on 9/11. So get offa that.

But worse: “violent police”? “police raid”? The police weren’t busting cookie-pushing Girl Guides here. Even the CBC (Communist Broadcast of Canada) did not take that kind of licence on behalf of lawless louts.

What really sticks in your craw is the fact that the pinko-media is making it out to look like the police are just on a native-whacking spree. One newspaper after another — even the so-called conservative National Post — spoke of a “standoff” between Natives and police. Excuse me! The police were acting as agents of the province and people of Ontario. The “standoff” was between the law-abiding tax-paying people of Haldimand County and the no-count spittoon-fiddlin’ professional squatters.

Bravo Marie Trainer, the Mayor of Haldimand County, who stood her ground when she went on CBC Newsworld to lash out about the costs of the protests. Subjected right after to the usual race-baiting, the Mayor said point-blank, “They needed to know what the Caledonia people thought…. I have to stick up for my people, just like they’re sticking up for themselves.”

Even “Daffy Dalton” McGuinty,” Ontario Premier, said nothing more menacing than, “stay cool, stay calm and remain patient.” So what could possibly justify such a one-sided attack on “non-native” responses to the protest as we see in Ol’ Jimmie’s rag?

Remember, the Six Nations protesters had held up development, occupying the property, about an hour southwest of Toronto, since Feb. 28. The police didn’t “swoop” in for almost two months!

Over 3,000 non-native residents packed a meeting to voice their protest of the protest. Not only did they not get the coverage squandered on the squatters, but protesting against the protest back home couldn’t even be given equal billing with protesting for the protesters halfway around this vast country in Vancouver!

So why don’t you just go back to the home turf, Jimmie P. and speak to your fellow capitalists, Henco Industries, who had contracted in all good faith to build 250 homes on the 40-hectare site. Tell ’em just to forget about their losses, because, of course, you would, wouldn’t you, Jimmie?! You and your Especially Honourable Mr. Glen Clark!

Go back to Caledonia — and come home to common sense — Jimmie.

Killer-cuddling ex-Governor joins ’em behind bars

Posted on Friday, April 21, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Disgraced Illinois ex-Governor, George Ryan, who triggered worldwide outrage when he let the entire death row of killers in his state get off, will have the chance now to enjoy their gratitude first hand. The veteran crook has just been convicted on endless counts of fraud and racketeering. On one major count alone, the 72 year-old faces 20 years up the river.

Rumours and allegations, if not the actual convictions, span the full measure of Ryan’s lifetime in politics. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald spoke of the man as “a low water mark of public service.”

On January 11, 2003, just days before he left office, Ryan pulled his worst stunt, commuting all 167 death sentences in the state.

Not only did he seek to poison the jury pool in his favour at his inevitable trial, the Internet started choking on sites promoting Ryan’s candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Instead, the minute the old fool steps into the big house, one of the most savage of the apes he let loose, will lay hold of him and beat him half to death.

It is downright ineffable, the liberal lament that is squandered on the least deserving and the most undeserving. In all of Ryan’s shenanigans, down to this moment of his being utterly discredited, only the victims of his murdering beneficiaries have been more displaced and derecognized.

We were assaulted with more of this spectacle in the shocking media response to the recent killings of two U.S. sex offenders by a Canadian who subsequently killed himself.

Apparently, Stephen Marshall, on a visit to the state of Maine, got the names of two sex offenders from the state’s online registry. Before shooting himself, as he was cornered aboard a bus by police, Marshall was the main suspect in the killing of both offenders.

Howling hysterics about vigilante justice have not abated. Brazen descriptions of the offenders as defenceless victims of a savage death hunt are deep-fried in empathy. Language itself, I just said, plea bargains here for an altogether different social role.

Ponder. One of the offenders, Joseph Gray, was convicted of child rape in 1992, for which he served a whopping suspended sentence of four to six years! How does the child fare today? The child would likely be out of his/her minority today, did he/she go to the prom? Is there the promise of a stable future? Has the child clearly survived?

Not one ounce of this concern has been articulated in any way that would still protect the privacy of the child-survivor — which privacy, incidentally, we jealously guard precisely because of the unspeakable nature of the act perpetrated here.

The predator crowds out everyone else. We hear from his widow. His “only son” died in a car crash. His grandsons “lived for their papa,” spending “weekends with him playing darts and making chocolate fudge.” He was a disabled Vietnam War veteran, whose combat experience “affected him really bad,” his brother relayed.

The Boston Herald did not attempt to hide its Ivy League disdain, referring to the gunman as “suicidal vigilante Stephen Marshall, 20, a dishwasher from Nova Scotia.” Well, a dishwashing job still has a nobility that a much-bastardized New England cannot confer on a child-raping ape!

Yet.

Canadian editorialists, for their part, have been content to remind us that William Eliot, the other offender, would not even have suffered a conviction in Canada for his act of having sex with a girl “two weeks shy of her 16th birthday.” Our Conservatives have promised to raise our age of consent back up to 16, from 14. If the Liberals had got back in they might have preferred to provide a more Bountiful haven for pedo-polygamists in response to a plea from Eliot’s mother, Shirley Turner: “He just wanted to love that girl and make a family.”

Eliot’s father, taking the talking points of the twisted liberalism that transfers victimhood to the predator, wondered: “Who would hate him this much.” He should have asked his son’s neighbours who had logged complaints about Eliot’s “unruly behaviour,” complete with gunshots.

Thankfully, Maine State Police have recovered from a bout of disabled common sense that led them to disable the offender web site in the wake of the killings. The registry is back up.

To respond directly to pedophile Eliot’s father, we had better be the ones who would hate these perverts enough to bring back capital punishment in Canada, at least for child killers.

Immigration and Culture: White Liberalism Unplugged

Posted on Monday, April 17, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

The immigration debate in the U.S. is stalled as brazen aliens — not from outer space — hold up city after city — protesting by the millions, demanding amnesty, demanding a fast track to citizenship, demanding anything that goes well beyond equal rights with legal residents.

In Canada, official multiculturalism continues to provide a smug cover for tensions hovering with subterranean intent. We continue to pretend that we are immune to the “La Raza syndrome.” Named for the Chicano — Mexican-American; Hispanic/ Latino — movement, La Raza, for “the race,” is positioned for a takeover of the institutionalized race-baiting Civil Rights cabal. They have all opponents on the run — including the entire U.S. Congress, which took off for a vacation like ’roaches running from Raid in that TV commercial.

All this in spite of poll after poll showing that Canadians, no less than Americans, want immigration reform that has teeth. Liberal columnists, you see, have sharpened their claws for an altogether different agenda. No poll gives them pause. No madman is less likely to miss a beat.

It’s liberalism unplugged.

The National Post, that disastrous experiment in what I call “wallet-worry conservatism,” offers up yet another hate-ridden response to social conservatives that could have been written by the looniest liberal.

Terence Corcoran, who came into the National Post family as Editor of the Financial Post, is the point man. About a month ago, he took up the immigration report released just earlier by Martin Collacott of the Fraser Institute. Within a few paragraphs, Corcoran’s multiple personal attacks of Collacott (a man who spent a lifetime in Canada’s foreign service) mutate into attacks of the most basic Canadian values.

Collacott, against the backdrop of serious loopholes in our lenient refugee system, is led to consider measures such as requiring newcomers to swear something of an oath of allegiance to our overall national outlook and defining vision. Well, “bold” is the kindest epithet that Corcoran has for such an idea.

Wondering just what Collacott could have in mind, Corcoran goes off in a hysterical rant about the kinds of people previously allowed into the country, an assortment of British and Irish trade unionists who “transformed” the country into an “explosion” of collective rights under law.

I couldn’t tell if Corcoran meant to celebrate this “transforming” element that has taken Canada so far down the road to restrictive, nationalized, crypto-communist policies and programs. Then I read his response to Collacott’s worries about terrorist fundraising in Canada. Acknowledging that there have been “suspicious movements of funds,” funds that might top $180-million a year, Corcoran insists that these “have yet to produce charges and convictions” (emphasis mine).

So what we need in Canada is a 9/11 body count. Until then, we’re just over-reacting and over-reaching. As Corcoran goes on to elaborate, out of 100,000 refugees, the number Collacott considers a terrorist threat is “tiny.”

It’s amazing what liberals and closet-liberals will do with figures. When they argue against capital punishment, for instance, they’ll concede (sometimes, anyway) that the number of overturned cases involving errors is “tiny,” then — without missing a beat — they’ll start raging about how even one such error is one too many — given what’s at stake.

Well then, what about just one terrorist who is going to pull a Timothy McVeigh — only worse? Just one Air Canada plane into the CN Tower, instead of one Ryder truck explosion in one Oklahoma building.

Never mind compassion, where’s Corcoran’s common sense? Post 9/11, is there really any excuse for not understanding unique kinds of threats as opposed to simple numbers?

Except — I suppose, where “Western values” are the focus. Longtime admirer of Fidel Castro, Vancouver Sun columnist Stephen Hume, wrote of Collacott’s recommendation of an oath of allegiance for newcomers in terms of “two-tier citizenship.” As in “two-tier” medicare, that granddaddy of all bogeymen in left-loon politics.

Apparently, communist dictatorship is not two-tier. Hume concedes that Castro made “mistakes” (that’s what he calls them). Perhaps testing for loyalty from overwhelmingly non-white immigrants and refugees would be more than a “mistake.” “Sensitivity” trumps security, as it does everything else.

That’s liberalism unplugged. Apologizing for Western Civilization and its Christian roots, accommodating any manner of barbarity as long as the practitioner is not a white Western Christian, that’s white liberalism unplugged.

So I will do Collacott one better. In addition to a formal, mandatory, specific newcomer oath of loyalty, we need an informal, somewhat mandatory but more general loyalty oath for the native-born. We could make it a “custom” tied to getting a driver’s license at 16. Or, a high school rite of graduation, somewhat in between the prom and the diploma ceremony.

Something dramatic is called for. We already have citizenship tests for naturalized citizens. To paraphrase Collacott, we need to expand such “defining” social moments into imminent security details.

Before there is nothing left to secure.

Forget Liberal Judges… Consider Liberal Prosecutors

Posted on Sunday, April 09, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Forget liberal judges, it’s prosecutors that we have to worry about now. Believe it or not, we’ve just had one, two, three judges, back to back, pushing for more jail time. That’s right. Three judges — one of them openly expressing surprise that the prosecutor wasn’t asking for a tougher sentence.

Of course, you remember some of the background to all this. The last week or so of the last federal election campaign that finally gave us a Conservative government. Stephen Harper, then Opposition Leader, made some statement about “liberal judges.” The media ran with it. They all but claimed that Harper was going to shut down the courts, from coast to coast.

Actually, all the man said was exactly what Canadians say over and over, namely, too many Liberal-appointed judges are just too easy on criminals, the judges are following a liberal agenda rather an agenda of justice for victims.

In any case, the debate on soft-headed judges has not cooled. So you had to jump for joy, or jump for justice, I should say, just two months ago, when BC Provincial Court Judge Jane McKinnon wondered out loud why the prosecutor only asked for a year and a half in the violent beating last December of Good Samaritan Kevin Vinn. The guy intervened when a girl was getting smacked around by her boyfriend. The boyfriend then gave Mr. Vinn a taste of the same — for buttin’ in his business, eh.

Crown prosecutors need to remember that they are counsel for the Crown, the people, not co-defence for the beast on trial. Taxpayers already pay for his lawyer. The people too need justice.

We won’t always get it. Fine. But what a twist when it is a judge who has to prod the people’s lawyer to fight for the people as zealously as the defence notoriously fights for the accused. In the recent child porn international ring that reeled in nine Canadians, Carl Treleaven drew a whopping 3 ?-year sentence, touted as “the longest jail term for the offence in Canada.”

Outside the Court, a woman screamed, “they should have nailed his ass to the wall!” The woman added that she was molested by Treleaven, starting from the time she was a mere toddler. Treleaven had two pedophile convictions involving girls going back to the 1970s.

The woman is Treleaven’s younger sister, Cindy Roncin.

Apparently, reports of incest, to top off global trade in child porn, did not prompt the prosecutor even to ask for half the maximum 10-year sentence. Instead, the prosecutor made a “joint submission with the defence” for less time. In other words, the defendant had both legal sides in court working for him. The people had — zip.

Now in Kamloops, BC Supreme Court Justice Daphne Smith rejected one of those “joint submissions” from lawyers who wanted a man labelled a long-term offender. She said the evidence suggested Dale Arnold Peters, convicted of manslaughter, was simply much more dangerous than that. Dangerous-offender status, the most serious criminal label in Canada, provides for indefinite jail time. As opposed to a long-term offender, who can secure a supervised release down the road.

In South Carolina there is a movement afoot to impose the death penalty for repeat sex offenders. The Governor spoke of this in terms of “common sense justice.” Our left-loon self-proclaimed “expert,” retired SFU Criminology professor, Karlene Faith, speaks instead of getting rid of jail, period. She won’t even say the word “prison.” On a recent TV appearance, she spoke of “custody institutions.”

And — here it comes — she calls herself, you guessed it, an “abolitionist.” As in the abolition of slavery. So now, every child-raping, murdering ape is, well, like a black slave who had done nothing wrong — except to get himself captured, or sold, of course.

The brazen perversion draws from coincidence. In fact, the leader of the prison-abolition movement is none other than American ’60s icon, Angela Davis. The aging Black Panther sympathizer has even updated the rhetoric for the “cause.” She speaks of the “prison-industrial complex.”

She does not speak of what will become of black crime victims lying in an open field of the most savage predators. In Canada, it is our crime-fighters, our prosecutors, that we must first rescue from these marshlands of unreason.

Shibboleths that fornicate race with crime

Posted on Saturday, April 01, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Shibboleths that fornicate race with crime.

The shibboleth that links race to crime gets more transfusions than Frankenstein. For almost a full year now, there’s been a steady drip of commentary lamenting a so-called “over-representation” of Natives in Canadian prisons. In America, of course, substitute blacks for Natives. (You know the drill.)

The basic premise of the whole argument is so widely shared and deeply rooted as to be beyond question.

Yet it is a monstrous falsehood. It’s a savage lie. Not only are Natives and blacks not over-represented in prisons, the very claim redirects concern from where it applies, brazenly handing it over to the most illegitimate group on the social scene.

Ignorance, I will argue, does not get more dangerous than this.

Lorne Gunter, in the National Post, of all places, started off the hype with a piece on “Crime and Punishment in Saskatchewan,” last June 6. At first, it seemed as if he would make war with left-lib race-baiting. He sounds like he is set to expose propaganda for what it is, to make plain and clear that people are in jail for what they’ve done, not for who they are.

But no, he simply switches the discredited terms of what is already a skewed debate. Instead of talking about prison statistics, Gunter refers to preceding arrests and related records and issues. The trouble is, no one is saying that Natives and blacks are literally, just being swept off the streets, to be dumped in prisons. They are arrested, yes. They are prosecuted, yes. There were charges and they are convicted. Agreed.

The dispute is over the numbers, the number of Natives and blacks in jail, not the number of steps or stages in the system that led to those rates of incarceration. In any case, and Gunter sees this right away, looking at arrests and the other steps before jail time, simply pushes the argument back a step or two. The same people who claim that there are too many Natives and blacks in jail, have always insisted that minorities are disproportionately picked on, picked up and put on trial in the first place.

Propagandists are simply too slick not to realize the cache of claiming that the entire criminal justice system is stacked against Natives. In fact, if they conceded that the arrests were clean and that Natives got fair trials, it would be strange then to argue that the jail time that followed was just not justified.

So, taking their cue from O.J. — the mother of all race-bait ruses, we are routinely treated to stories of police planting evidence, prosecutors withholding exculpatory information, and on, and on, ad nauseam.

There are Natives — and whites, for that matter — who are truly victimized by such illegitimate conduct of “Officers of the Court.” But they get lost in a seamless web of fraud, fools and fiends.

And those are the least of the victims of liberal mischief-making. Consider the victims of crime. In all this frothing about criminals, victims are not just crowded out. They are reduced to what I call “de-recognition,” so stripped of relevance and significance as to be utterly outside the orbit of concern. When it comes to compassion, it is the real victims of criminals that the left-lib classify as N/A: not applicable.

This is where Peter McKnight picks up from Gunter and others. In “Race and crime not exactly a black and white matter,” Vancouver Sun, March 25, 2006, McKnight manages to put out a disgracefully derivative piece that goes on endlessly for what looks like a 1000, maybe even 2,000 words, all supposedly on the topic of crime, without mentioning the word “victim” once. Not once.

“Victim,” you see, is the modern equivalent of subjecting the ancient tribesman to the test of pronouncing the “sh” in shibboleth. He commits the slip-up of saying “sibboleth,” thereby betraying his outsider status. Liberals substitute criminals for victims in a twisted attempt to usurp for predators a concern that naturally goes to victims.

As long as the criminal is centre stage only the bleeding heart can win. That is why, in the U.S. anyway, the ultimate test of liberal mendacity, a new shibboleth, if you will, is to ask a Democrat, for instance, to say the phrase, “black on black crime.” More than any other, this phrase brings out the black victims who are the real disproportionate representatives in the crime dynamic.

If the Democrat flinches, or in any way shows discomfort, then, as with a lie detector, that does him in. Pinpointing black victims, you see, restores a moral equilibrium. One wonders, for instance, how blacks from the same social conditions as their predators, could be more victim than fellow savage. Why aren’t both overwhelmingly preying on ol’ whitey bogeyman?

You begin to see through the infrastructural fallacy McKnight parrots without pause or ponder, marching inexorably to the conclusion that “confirms,” he says, “the intuition that poverty plays a large role in driving crime in minority communities.” (And this man likes to boast that he studied philosophy!)

What really plays “a large role” in black and Native crime is an absent father who would insist on right versus wrong. McKnight insists, instead, that “we’ve known about aboriginal overrepresentation for years.” But as a black, thoroughgoing Conservative, I empathize with the authentic outsider who can no more wrap his head around this logic than our ancient alien ancestor could get his tongue around that “sh” dead giveaway in pronouncing “shibboleth”.

Just ponder. Why are Nazis disproportionately blamed for the atrocities of the Holocaust? The riposte, of course, is that the monsters did the deeds. So, you see, when responsibility is not in doubt, we do not properly speak of “over-representation”. Such talk is nothing but a gross abuse of language.

This is not “just semantics.” This is language perverted to the point of dire social consequence. It casts the most unspeakable predators of the most vulnerable among us in a light most favourable to mercy and justice aborted.

Again, why are males, who comprise but half of the population, overwhelmingly blamed for the most heinous crimes, crimes such as rape and pedophilia? Surely the rejoinder is once more fast and furious, that incontrovertibly, men disproportionately commit these crimes. There are innocent people behind bars, but overwhelmingly, Natives, no less than Nazis, are held to account for crimes they have committed.

There are no further concessions to make. Unless liberals have the guts to claim that overwhelmingly, Natives and blacks are wholly innocent, innocent across the spread of the criminal justice system, the jig is up. In the most technical sense, the shibboleth we have decimated is itself the slip of the diabolical.

Fire and Gender

Posted on Friday, March 24, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Richmond, BC is front-page news. Again. Earlier this month, the city won the infamous Teddy Award, the annual “Oscar” for gross abuse of the public purse, handed out by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Richmond won in the city category for its free-spending multi-million dollar staff and Council members, not to mention the city’s ever-sinking speed-skating 2010 Winter Olympics oval budget — a project, we just found out, to be built, appropriately enough, on real sinking, soil shifting mudslides that might swallow the entire site whole, within a decade.

In any case, now it’s the city’s long-troubled Fire-Rescue Department. The last of the women on the force have just taken leave, in the wake of harassment allegations, down to such details as human feces in a female employee’s boots.
Yep, a “full and independent” review has been recommended.

Only a year ago, the Department’s lone female captain, Jocelyn Roberts, committed suicide.

Meanwhile, the March 22 front-cover of the Province, tells us the top men in the Department are in “sensitivity training.”

So let me state right away that I do not have the benefit of any such “re-education,” since I do not take my talking points from the Commissars of Political Correctness and Liberal Liarfulness.

I speak, then, of firemen. Not “fire fighters.” Since Prometheus, the Greek creator who stole fire from the gods to give it (back) to man, fire has been and it better continue to be, a man’s job. A big man’s job. Prometheus, you will recall, came from a race of Titans. Giants. That’s not mythology. It’s basic biology. Let me make the case.

There are some dangerously ignorant feminist-extremists who think they can repeal the constitution of human nature. They want to make men and women not just equal, but in fact, identical.

Fire, you see, is not like anything else. It is not like teaching Math, or playing the violin, or practising medicine or doing poetry. Fire is the business of the very provision for life but with the instrument of utmost devastation and death.

In other words, fire is a uniquely “savage life-force” of testosterone in both man and woman. But relatively low levels of testosterone in women cannot begin to compare to its virilizing role in manhood. This is an elemental truth (as in basic elements).

Fire is not amenable, then, to what I call “man-made biology.” A police force can carve a role for women, who may be even more stabilizing than their male counterparts, say, in handling domestic violence.

There are women — granted, not all “million dollar babes” — who box for a living. Women have been in NASCAR since the ’70s. Some female body-builders are more masculine than Schwarzenegger.

No matter. Fire is a different quantum. Fire is life in the constant craving of death. Savage muscular prowess to retrieve, cuts against the grain of womanhood to preserve whatever is already salvaged. The male instinct and attitude are altogether different. Testosterone is an explosive impulse to combat, confront, not conserve.

Yes, there are implications here for the military (combat duty) and other aspects of other industries. That’s exactly why women traditionally play auxiliary roles in these sectors. The only people who will bemoan such concessions are those who have made an utter fetish of equality.

I have in mind those not satisfied with equal opportunity, which would still allow for differences and adjusted arrangements. They’re not interested in equalizing conditions and circumstances, an equal playing field. As I said, they darn near want to equalize people themselves, till all manner of differences and indeed, differentiation, disappear.

One natural step in progression from Hollywood gender-benders, these are the gender-blenders.

The ruthless force that is fire requires a no less merciless counter-attack. We are not dealing with the aftermath of fire, but fire raging now without punctuation. Sending women to fight fire is not just to put the cart before the horse. It is to try to contain the horse in the cart!

Now absolute confrontationals, which is what firemen need to be, cannot be trained or maintained in an atmosphere conducive to mutual respect between the genders. Fire ain’t social work.

The gender-blenders will use every trick in the book to fight this. As I write, they’re playing the race card. They’re conflating race with gender, hysterically trying to make it look like “people of colour” are being kept off the fire force — you know, as are women.

It’s a disgrace. A woman who identified herself as a long-term administrator in the Richmond Fire Department, in a letter to the Editor in the Province, March 23, said she was a friend of the late female captain, Jocelyn Roberts, adding, “shame on those” who try to exploit her plight for their agenda.

Indeed.

No matter the advancements in equipment, society will need male brutes to confront a cosmic force such as fire. You would think that that is something to celebrate. Those who apologize for it do us a graver evil than the lazy, worthless servant in the Holy Bible who hid his one talent in the ground for fear of losing it in a risky investment in social growth and development.

Those ill at ease with the unequal raw physicality of the genders will, in the end, have but one of these diabolical choices: destroy either the woman who cannot be brought to par, or the man who occasions such envy by simple comparison in the first place. Or, both.

New voices back Afghanistan and Harper

At the most violent corner in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister of Canada stood with relentless resolve. “We live in a dangerous world,” the man said, “And we have to show leadership in that world and that’s what we’re doing and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

At the most violent corner in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister of Canada pointed across a few feet from a few faces, young, brave and Canadian, in uniform: “To cut and run is not your way, it is not my way, it is not the Canadian way.”

At the most violent corner in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister of Canada reached out to a nation, his people and the world: “We live in a dangerous world… we can ignore the danger, but the danger will not ignore us.”

Back home, his government-backed national broadcast, CBC, the Communist Broadcast of Canada, was not worried about “the danger.” The CBC was worried that Harper looked “Presidential.” In other words, believe it or not, Harper looked like a leader. But of course our Commie network is simply raising The Spectre of George W. Bush.

So twisted now is tax-backed Bush-bashing that it is willing to throw out the very paradigm of leadership. Just as lazy liberals now eschew the meritocracy of plain hard work because capitalists swear by such values.

A man who makes the toughest decisions against the odds (not to mention polls), stands by his word through thick and thin, bows to a Greater Glory for guidance to victory; a man who will never abandon ship — well, that sounds like a lot of wedding vows to the left-loons. They are married to “alternative life-arrangements.” Like bend-over appeasement.

When the CBC’s Kiddie-Commie, pseudo-correspondent, George Stroumboulopoulos interviewed American protester Cindy “Shameless” Sheehan, a day or so ago, she was officially declared “Peace Mom”. She made it clear that Bush’s fault was that he invaded “two countries” that had nothing to do with 9/11. Stroumboulopoulos did not even ask her about Osama and the Taliban in Afghanistan.

So, finally, the left-loons bloom in living colour. Opposition to the Iraq war was just a ruse. They were just biding their time because the Afghanistan operation was backed by the U.N. The left is opposed to all opposition to terror. Sheehan, who lost a son in Iraq, has now utterly, unbelievably, abandoned everything her son wrote to her about in terms of his deep commitment to the whole American Middle East effort in global democracy.

Now more than ever the liberation of Afghanistan and Iraq stand or fall together. We need new voices to articulate a savage new support.

I am a black man mindful of history. Come, let us recall together.

1877. The year of the Great Abandonment. The Deep South, U.S.A. Reconstruction. The bloody Civil War that ended slavery was over. And now so was Reconstruction. The last of the federal troops were to be withdrawn. Not because the job was done. The determining factor was not Reconstruction, but resentment. Southern whites were bitter about the advances of the “freedmen”. To this day, American students, not to mention Canadians, are shocked to find out that there were black Senators and Representatives from all across the South almost a full century before the Voting Rights Act of the 1960s.

The appeasement of 1877, complete with a hotly disputed Presidential election (surprise), sold out freedom for the second-class status of “black codes”, lynchings, the inception of the KKK, Jim Crow racial segregation.

The Republicans under the Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln, won the war then lost their nerve. “Radical Republicans” gave in to the “Moderates” and Democrats (surprise). And darkness fell.

130 years later, at the most violent corner in Afghanistan, a brilliant young leader made a solemn vow to new millions newly emancipated. “We don’t make a commitment and then run away at the first sign of trouble. We don’t and we will not, as long as I’m leading this country,” Harper sent word to Canadians back home.

And brave new voices are coming out of Islam itself to address the new darkness and terror. Wafa Sultan, a 47 year-old Syrian-trained psychiatrist, now based in California, has promised to “turn the Islamic world upside down” in her forthcoming book, the working title of which is “The Escaped Prisoner: When God is a monster.”

She certainly turned the Internet upside down during her recent Al Jazeera appearance. She denounced terrorist distortions of Islam, characterizing their war with the West not as the propagandist so-called “Clash of Civilizations,” but simply as a war between rationality and barbarity.

She elaborated, contrasting Islamic protest and the long living nightmare of the Jew. “The Jews have come from the tragedy and forced the world to respect them, with their knowledge, not with their terror; with their work, not with their crying and yelling.”

She went on, “We have not seen a single Jew blow himself up in a German restaurant. We have not seen a single Jew destroy a church. We have not seen a single Jew protest by killing people.”

Her conclusion is pellucidly emphatic: “The Muslims must ask themselves what they can do for humankind, before they demand that humankind respect them.”

As we go to press, the usual useless suspects are issuing one death fatwa after another on Wafa Sultan. The woman who came up from the many lands of the River Jordan, promised in the name of the old Negro Spiritual that she will not be moved.

There are those of us from the ranks of the historically dispossessed who have come to possess a more perfect truth, that brown skin is not a deterrent to democracy. We thank Prime Minister Harper. We thank President Bush. May the great peoples of Canada and the US continue to support and may God bless the continued leadership of both.

The real lessons of the Emerson defection

Posted on Thursday, March 09, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

Now that Bernard Shapiro, our “much-maligned” maiden Ethics Commissioner of Canada, has promised a “preliminary inquiry” into the Emerson affair, the matter has legs, as we say in the business. On stilts, we might add, given the promised showdown between the Ethics “Czar” and the PMO, which immediately denounced Shapiro for the partisan hack that he is.

Conservatives who worked long and hard in the wilderness will not much longer be able to hold their fire. Thrown for a loop over the appointment, many of us nevertheless could not be induced even to give a hint of frustration that would only give the enemy to salivate.

Our opponents have not even managed to touch the bare hem of the whole sordid disappointment. You see, the Emerson affair is the most unseemly instance of the “Myth of Indispensable Liberal Man.”

Never mind that there are Conservatives a-plenty with rival qualifications for the job (not to mention, more deserving). What really hurts is ironically, exactly what Emerson has said in his own defense, namely, that he was never really ideological, that he was more of a “get things done” kinda guy. A man whose “service is not a mere sermon.”

Isn’t that what we’ve been touting of Conservatives all these years? All to be backhanded to the back of the bus by one of our very own. We know what Harper wants. Above all, a massive softwood lumber deal, with as much of that $5 billion collected in duties coming back to us. Fine. Exactly why you give a blood-baptised Conservative a shot at the glory.

Take it from a staunch Conservative who also happens to be black. It is why I so savagely oppose “Affirmative Action” (“Employment Equity,” in Canada) that distributes any number of benefits on the basis of race (or ethnicity, or gender, or…). Anything but pure merit and simple qualifications. A black man who spent his entire youth and did nothing other than to hit the books, and hit ’em hard, is a-hungering to prove himself. Then you go and throw the job at any old black applicant just to satisfy your quota. So now a black man who “earned” his place is no different from some wasted slacker. What an insufferable slur.

Harper, if he wanted someone from BC, could have taken a very ambitious young man like Port Moody-PoCo Conservative MP, James Moore, “apprenticed” him to someone like political original Preston Manning, on the one hand, and/or to various Conservative-friendly big business/labour (yes, labour) interests, as far as the law would allow (which is quite a lot, incidentally) then make the guy work like a beast of burden to bring home the bacon.

Such a Conservative would have worked like a black man who had earned the opportunity of a lifetime. There is nothing, nothing, I said nothing, that Emerson will deliver that can possibly surpass this. This is what Harper passed on.

And if Emerson delivers less, or fails (yes, that is possible) the only refuge for Harper will be, yep, the “Myth of Indispensable Liberal Man.” It will be said that Emerson failed where no man could have even come close to the possibility of success. Conservatives might even have to resort to some Bush-bashing to save face.

We know liberals believe their own mythology. Look at their attitudes toward blacks in the US. The platform of the Democratic Party all but explicitly says that blacks would be nowhere without welfare, Affirmative Action and the rest of the revolting left-lib scheme. These are the roots of the savage fallacy.

But Conservatives reject this state-made biology. For our Creator has invested all men with unlimited potential for society to tap and channel into its development.

Which is why Harper should have fired Shapiro before that opportunist seized one last opportunity to gain cover. If Shapiro is fired now, he will claim that an even more corrupt new PM could not withstand vigorous ethical scrutiny. Nevertheless, Harper must bite the bullet and immediately appoint the incomparable Preston Manning (a preacher’s son, you will recall) to the post.

Of course, leftist yahoos will holler. (Like they wouldn’t anyway.) They are pushing for Ed Broadbent. Now, we absolutely wish Mr. Broadbent and his ailing wife well. But we are mindful of calls for candidates who are not Christian Conservatives. Secularist extremists cannot possibly be “partial,” of course.

What a farce.

It gets worse. Harper has tapped just-retired Supreme Court Justice John Major for the promised inquiry into the Air India trial debacle. Only a week or so ago, the man was on — yep, the Communist Broadcast of Canada (CBC) — doing “colour” commentary on the confirmation hearings of his Supreme Court replacement, Marshall Rothstein, taking pot shots at Harper’s critique of “liberal” judges. (Remember, Major was appointed by Mulroney, by no means the kind of “social” Conservative the media liberals “fear.”)

The Air India probe calls for working with devastated survivor-families. It calls for a pastor’s touch with a politically savvy hand. What have I been saying about Preston Manning?

Am I in fact the only Conservative left who knows that Preston Manning is not in fact, dead?

What almighty lesson did we just learn from our Olympic triumph in Torino? The Triumph of the Amateur. The antidote to the ugly “Myth of Indispensable Liberal Man.”

Canadians, like Americans, continue to be fascinated with the celebration of the amateur on “American Idol” (that’s why we have a “Canadian Idol”) and “The Apprentice.” We’re not deluded by the self-deluded pseudo-elitists of, what else, that Commie Broadcast of Canada (CBC).

Shapiro’s “unaligned” yahoos are still collecting signatures to “recall” Emerson. They are still using Emerson’s pre-election anti-Conservative rhetoric against him. He promised to be Harper’s “worst nightmare.” He scaremongered support for Liberals like the worst of them, predicting all but the complete collapse of Western Civilization, upon any kind of Conservative victory. So now we know that left-libs don’t believe their own fibs.

Oh, what a revelation. It’s an epiphany.

We need new myths. Myths married to reality. We need Conservative Idol. We need to dig for up-and-coming Mannings and work ’em to Preston perfection.

Consent and new refusals to condemn pedophilia

Posted on Wednesday, March 01, 2006
Bio/Email | Anthony Oluwatoyin Archives | Printer-Friendly Version

War is brewing. And not just in Iraq. Culture wars. And, did I say, not just in Iraq? Conservatives are set to fulfill a pre-election pursuit. To raise the age of sexual consent from 14 to 16. And liberals are more determined than ever to expose themselves like something that is the very reason for wanting to raise the age of consent in the first place.

While some in the media pretend that their opposition to the proposed raise is based on concerns such as equality and consistency (they point out, for instance, that the age of consent for anal — gay — sex is 18) more and more left-lib voices are circling the wagons around the whole point of consent itself. They all but argue that younger and younger teens do not need to be protected from older and older adults.

You would think they were trying to squeeze out whatever legitimacy is possible for NAMBLA. That is the odious North American Man/Boy Love Association which explicitly advocates for pedophilia.

Consider Kate Heartfield’s, “The ick factor and the age of consent,” Ottawa Citizen, Feb.20, in which she contends that it is “illogical” to claim that teenagers can consent to sex with each other but not with adults. Indeed, she seems to think our entire focus on age is a mere fixation.

But this is not merely ignorant. It is dangerous. If Heartfield wants to deal with facts, as opposed to “icky” reactions, as she would put it, she ought to know that pedophiles prefer them younger and younger. This even came out in the Michael Jackson trial. The evidence was that when a preferred boy was just a year older, a pedophile would lose interest, having already started to shop for a younger replacement.

So a consent age of 16 as opposed to 14 would save real lives. In recent, dramatic TV presentations, pedophiles were documented online in an almost fetish hunt for 13, 14 year-olds, not a day older. No psychiatrist has been able to explain it. It is as if any sign of developing adulthood throws the pedophile for a loop. Budding breasts of womanhood; incipient facial or pubic hair; two, three inch increase in height — almost anything that makes a pedophile feel that the child is no longer worthy of being his prey, because, frankly, the child is no longer a child.

So it is deeply disturbing that Heartfield mentions pedophilia not once throughout her article. I couldn’t even find the word “predator” in the piece. But she certainly seems to share NAMBLA’s frustration with attempts to make almost any adult sexual contact with younger teenagers a case of vitiated consent.

Society’s concern, on the other hand, is just such a matter of holding the pedophile at bay, making it so that he is never sure if even the attempt at sexual contact with a minor necessarily violates consent.

One of the most sensational cases that sheds light on all this occurred almost 30 years ago when a child, kept as a sex slave for seven years, escaped from lifelong pedophile Ken Parnell. The predator, who had already captured a substitute younger child, was planning to kill the older child for having, well, grown.

To underscore the point savagely, Parnell expressly let it be known that his only regret was that when he routinely, ritually, anal-raped the older child, captured at the age of 7, the child would bleed “messily.” But, strangely, as the child grew into the role, making less of a “mess,” that didn’t make the child salvageable; just “old,” apparently.

You see, for the pedophile, age trumps all. This is what society is up against.

So what we are trying to do, simply, is to save our children till they reach an age — to be blunt about it — an age when they are less desirable, if at all, to pedophiles. We are simply trying to delay a day of unspeakable vulnerability. Would Heartfield prefer that we be more accommodating to pedophiles, that we occasion less angst for their pursuits?

Many years ago, in a ranting attack on then British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s steadfast sense of right versus wrong, British author Doris Lessing, I believe it was, a darling of the femiNazi left-lib, did not cause even a bit of a stir in the loony-left media when she seemed to wonder just what the harm is in adult sexual contact with children.

Small wonder today, alternative lifestyle activists like Heartfield think that Conservatives inconsistently apply different rules to anal sex, in terms of which the Criminal Code requires an age of consent that stands unchanged at 18. This is viewed as homophobic, of course.

What rubbish. Conservatives understand that conservatism minus bigotry does not equal zero. Conservatives will not be bullied, however, by opportunistic activists trying to pass off the destruction of foundational marriage for a plain human touch. Yes, anal sex restrictions will more likely apply to gay youth. But then think about it. Are gay youth not the most vulnerable of the vulnerable, in every complex way? Whatever we can do to keep the pedophile’s paws away is a good thing.

The ugly truth is that we want to make it the case that a NAMBLA man would almost feel as if he should not even bother, that he simply wouldn’t get away with it.

We are not naà ¯ve. But if any crime is worse than murder, pedophilia is. It is a violation like no other. Pedophile Parnell’s sex slave, Steven Stayner, was killed, seven years after securing his freedom, in a horrific motorcycle accident. His brother, Cary Stayner, now sits on death row in California for the serial killings in the Yosemite Park murders.

Finally, in 2004, 72 year-old professional predator Parnell got a life term for attempting to buy an African-American boy.

This is what Conservatives want to protect against. Would Heartfield prefer to protect the pedophile instead?
